Ana, grow up
Revisado: 03-03-12
What did you like best about White Gardenia? What did you like least?
Liked this part of history which I had never read about before and it helped me understand what the world was like at that time. I like the characters but did not like how emotionally immature Ana was through out the book. I think t he author repeatedly went overboard on Ana's crying and inability to adapt to changes. I would have liked to read the book with Ana as a stronger character.
What other book might you compare White Gardenia to and why?
Very similar to her other books Wild Lavender and Silver Wattle.
What about Deidre Rubenstein???s performance did you like?
Very good and excellent accents.
Do you think White Gardenia needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Would be nice to see Ana grown up in the years of raising her daughter and helping an elderly Mother. Also to develope her relationships with her husband and friends. Plus to see the history unfold as to these years in Australia.
Any additional comments?
I did like the books and would recommend it but only to women.....a man wouldn't like all the crying in Ana's character.

Exhausting.....
Revisado: 12-20-10
The premise of the book was good but with it's continual debating between characters it
exhausted me. Their debates are very liberal thinking for that day but they had no more
answers than they had questions. I waded through the book hoping for at least a good ending.
The ending was disappointing and I felt as if I'd wasted not only a credit but a lot of time
listening to it. The narrator's voice was so shrill with no variation between characters that
I often couldn't listen for more than 15 minutes at a time. This is why it gets a "1" star from me.

Forgiveness
Revisado: 06-15-10
I've read all her books and as always the bottom line in her books is a spiritual truth. I feel
the story showed how forgiveness to the ones we love the most can change the path of ones life and
last for generations. Book was great but I would have liked a better ending. I wanted to know how
Marta's life ended and if Hilda survived. But I can happily imagine a good ending for all. Ms Rivers please continue to write your historical
fiction christian books.

Nice mix of romance and history
Revisado: 03-30-10
At first I thought the book was going to be predictable but as I listened on I saw the twist and turns as the plot grew. I thought the author did a wonderful job of showing what it was like
to have lived in London during WWII. The narrator
was easily understood with her British accents.

Brings story together
Revisado: 10-17-09
This is the 3rd book of the series and Im so glad that I listened to it. It fully brings all the family back together as all the characters of the previous books are blended in. I almost felt like
a member of the community. I've learned to appreciate that time period in history and what life was really like for all involved from these
books.
I'm not sure I'll purchase the next 2 books for
taking my 2 credits for so many months has limited
my variety of choices. I felt this book had a good enough ending for me to imagine their futures
and feel satisfied without running the series in the ground.

Yes, Reckless....
Revisado: 05-28-09
I have read Elizabeth Lowell's "only" series and loved the narrator so wasn't sure about this one
with a female narrator. But when I got into the book it didn't matter.
I loved the description of the land and a woman's survival skill's among Indians and wild horses.
Like all Elizabeth Lowell's books that I have read
you always have the most handsome and potent man
vs an independent perfectly formed responsive woman.
The story has a little of everything including a
good Indian fight, danger, daring escapes and of course in the end a pledge of enduring love and marriage.

Not a repeat of Ambrose writings
Revisado: 05-10-09
I bought this book for my husband to listen to the following is his review....a review from a
Vietnam combat infantryman's point of view.
Major Winter's writings relates his personal feelings of Easy Co.;his trials as he lead men into loss of life, wounds and civilized life left behind forever. He did not feel he was born to lead but leadership came about on his experiences prior to the war. It is the infantryman who bears the harsh cruelty of war.Winter's gives insight into the infantryman and the men who must make the decisions. Those that have been in war will have moments of reflection, understanding and a quiet nod of the head.Brotherhood of infantryman is better understood, closer than blood family. It is men at their best hoping no one will ever have to do the same.Their duty is ultimatley to each other. Ambrose's writings are not repeated. Winter's gives deeper clarification.Europe was freed and ultimately us. Byron Adams

unfolding of history
Revisado: 04-25-09
This was an excellent book about the Indian and
white settlers conflict. Within the wonderful romance of Hunter and Loretta you can see their conflicts of honor to one's people vs their love. I felt hurt for both sides and saw how this time in history has left such a scar on American history. Man's inhumanity to man and how a few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch. I did feel the book was a little long especially with Loretta's stubborness. I would love to read a sequel.
If you like romance and westerns this is a must read.

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

The Time Traveler's Wife
Revisado: 01-17-09
Good love story but strange. It was hard to keep up with so much time travel that made the whole plot seem strange. You almost forgot that the book was about the travelers wife. I did appreciate their love and hopes for a normal life.
Thought the medical side of the story very interesting. Good narration. Recommend only if you like time travel theories.
