Historia
A startling crime with dozens of victims. Appearing out of nowhere to horrify the quiet resort town of Sanibel Island, Florida, dozens of identical, ordinary-looking shoes float in on the tide and are washed up on the tropical beach—each one with a crudely severed human foot inside.

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 02-10-20
I look forward to the next Pendergast installment each year. I was a little concerned after the death of Rene Auberjonois. However, Jefferson Mays was OK. Although Mr. Mays is a genius with multi characters his talents were not used well for this book.
The main issue was that the story was weak and virtually none of the talents and uniqueness of Pendergast were used. He was just an OK detective in this story. I hope that Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child go back to the things that made the Pendergast series outstanding for future books.

Skip This One
Revisado: 07-26-19
I could not wait to get the new Mark Greaney book and pre-ordered it as soon as it was available. It is hard to believe that he wrote this. All of his prior books were "page turners" that were difficult to put down. I listened for about 1 1/2 hours hoping it would get better. It did not. Too many stories about undeveloped characters that I did not care about. Skip this one and hope that he goes back to writing the Gray Man and/or Tom Clancy books.

I heard a lot about this book and decided to try it. I did not think I would like it but it turned out to be one of the best books that I read this year. Michelle Obama reading it makes you feel like you are part of the story. This is a must read book.

Historia
Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.

Not Up to Standard
Revisado: 03-30-17
What would have made The Cutthroat better?
A better plot.
Has The Cutthroat turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
What does Justin Scott and Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Scott Brick is great in everything he reads. Justin Scott was very good. Unfortunately they could not save the weak story.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Cutthroat?
I would not have written this very weak and not very good story.
Any additional comments?
When I saw that Clive Cussler had a new Isaac Bell book coming out I immediately pre-ordered it and looked forward to the release date. I loved all of the prior books in the series. However, this one was no where near the level of the others. The story was contrived, disjointed and not very engaging. In the past I had trouble stopping before the end of the book. For this one, I had trouble going back to it. I kept hoping it would get better, but it did not. It got to the point where I did not even care who the killer/Ripper was. I can only hope that the next one will be better.

Historia
In the Hell Gate section of New York's East River lie the sad islands where, for centuries, people locked away what they most feared: the contagious, the disfigured, the addicted, the criminally insane. Here, infection slowly consumed the stricken. Here, a desperate captain ran his doomed steamship aground and watched flames devour 1,500 souls. Here, George A. Soper imprisoned the infamous Typhoid Mary after she spread sickness and death in Manhattan's most privileged quarters.

Revisado: 09-13-16
Would you try another book from Dana I. Wolff and/or Christina Delaine?
I would not try another book by Dana I. Wolff. I would listen to other books read by Christina Delaine.
What could Dana I. Wolff have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Totally rewrite the story and have a better ending.
Have you listened to any of Christina Delaine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The historical references were interesting.
Any additional comments?
The story went down hill very fast and by the middle I kept hoping for it to get better. It did not, the ending seemed like the author felt that she had written enough.

What would have made Portrait of a Conspiracy better?
This book is disjointed, not interesting and almost impossible to follow. I could follow nor listen to it after about an hour of trying.
What didn’t you like about Cassandra Campbell’s performance?
The story line was the problem, but she was not a good reader for this book.

Historia
A seemingly straightforward private case turns out to be much more complicated - and sinister - than Special Agent A. X. L. Pendergast ever could have anticipated. Pendergast, together with his ward, Constance Greene, travels to the quaint seaside village of Exmouth, Massachusetts, to investigate the theft of a priceless wine collection. But inside the wine cellar, they find something considerably more disturbing: a bricked-up niche that once held a crumbling skeleton.

Not Up To The Preston and Child Standards
Revisado: 11-24-15
I waited anxiously for the next Pendergast book. I have read all of the prior Pendergast and other books written by both authors. This one just does not have the same intensity, intrigue nor style of the prior books. I am still a fan and hope that the next book will make up for this one.
This is the first Preston and/or Child book that dragged on and on. I could not wait for the end-which was extremely disappointing.

Historia
There have been many books - on a large and small scale - about Steve Jobs, one of the most famous CEOs in history. But this book is different from all the others. Becoming Steve Jobs takes on and breaks down the existing myth and stereotypes about Steve Jobs. The conventional, one-dimensional view of Jobs is that he was half genius, half jerk from youth, an irascible and selfish leader who slighted friends and family alike.

Revisado: 04-07-15
I have read all of the prior books on Steve Jobs. This is the first one that explains the reasons why he did things. It shows him as a real person not just the person who literally changed the world with the iPod and iPhone. This is a must read!
