One of my favourites!

Where does Will I Ever Be Good Enough? rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Along with 'Stop Caretaking the Borderline/Narcissist' and 'Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents', 'WILL I EVER BE GOOD ENOUGH' has given me a really satisfying understanding of the crazy making childhood I have experienced growing up in my family of origin. It has helped me to come to terms with the fact that I will NEVER have the mother-daughter relationship I had longed for growing up. And the reason she wasn't able to be there for me during the incestuous abuse of my early childhood was nothing to do with ME or my worthiness, but everything to do with HER and her illness. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for clarity around a crazy-making childhood.

Historia
People with borderline or narcissistic personality disorders have a serious mental illness that primarily affects their intimate, personal, and family relationships. Often they appear to be normally functioning at work and in public interactions, and narcissists may even be highly effective, in the short term, in some work or social situations. However, in intimate relationships, they can be emotional, aggressive, demeaning, illogical, paranoid, accusing, and controlling - in the extreme.

Where does Stop Caretaking the Borderline or Narcissist rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I was so close to thinking that I was the one who had all the problems in the family and that the lifelong family discord I experienced was just a result of me being 'crazy'. As a way of trying desperately to make sense of my life and who I have become, I have been reading all that I can get my hands on as an adjunct to the trauma therapy I have been doing over the past decade. This book was so enlightening! I would highly recommend it to anyone at a loss for clarity over why they are they way they are, and what to do about it, should they like for their future to be different. So grateful to have come across this book. It's definitely one of my favourites.

Wow! Now it all makes so much sense ..

Would you listen to Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents again? Why?
I have listened multiple times already, and will do so again. This book is so jam packed with information that each time, I hear something 'new' I had previously missed.
What did you like best about this story?
What I so much appreciated about this book is the validation I so much craved that the uncomfortable disconnection in our family and my intense dislike for my mother isn't just a case of me always having 'been such a bad daughter' who just needed to 'be nicer to my mother'. My mother's emotional immaturity was crazy making, and now it all makes sense to me. (having said that, her immaturity also makes sense, considering the abusive childhood she had to endure .. unfortunately, it's been a sad, painful family legacy).
Any additional comments?
I have read many books on narcissism and toxic parenting and have done decades of therapy, but still found this book to be of great value. I highly recommend it.

LIBERATING!!

I didn't realise how far I'd come on my journey back to myself after having listened to the audiobooks by Brene Brown and Debbie Ford, but this neat little addition to my audio library helped me see the fruits of my hard work! For me, listening to the wisdom herein was definitely a worthwhile effort. Along with the works of the aforementioned authors, I highly recommend this literary work also. Five stars!
