Not a fan at all

The author was all over the place with little to no transitions in the story line. The characters I couldn’t connect with at all. Quite frankly, they annoyed me. I’m sure there’s an audience for this type of writing and these characters, but I am not it. I choked my way through the first book of the series because I wanted to give it a good solid chance and it just kept getting worse.

The performance was disappointing

I liked the concept of the plot at first, but the narrator was distracting. She had a way about her cadence and inflection at times (particularly the final sentence of a chapter) that was very much like computerized gps directions. More than a couple of times she used the wrong voice for the character speaking making it difficult to follow.
Towards the end of the third book I was barely paying attention anymore as the plot had started to flatline. Definitely won’t finish the series.

narration killed it for me

Like many have said, the narration in this is AWFUL. A change in voice is one thing, but the narrator clearly did not listen to any of the previous books in an attempt to keep it cohesive. Made especially evident in the handfuls of words being pronounced incorrectly. Rachel goes from bad ass runner to spoiled 16 year old valley girl. Jenks may be small but he isn't a 7 tear old girl slinging curse words while sucking down helium. Im SO glad Ms. Gavin is back for the rest of the books going forward.
