As other reviews have said, there is certain material that the e book or physical copy has that is not included in this version (tables, lists, and various sheets for aiding play). For some of that the text is clear enough that you could conceivably create those items through careful listening, but don’t worry, those aren’t the real gold of this book. The real gold is the text itself, clear and well written, explaining the processes and procedures of good game mastering: how to make a ruling, how to run a room, and how to string rulings and rooms and situations together both at the table and before you get there to creat amazing table top role playing game sessions. Treat the audio book as if it’s a recorded collection of essays on game mastering, and you’ll find it satisfies almost all of your needs. Highly recommended

The story written by Drew Hayes is excellent, and his world building impeccable. Kyle McCarley is one of the finest narrators and voice actors I’ve ever heard, juggling a wide assortment of characters and their voices excellently. A must listen for fans of super powered shenanigans.

The Disappeared is great fun for those wanting a noir space mystery, told with sharp dialogue, like-able characters and well constructed world-building. The mystery itself is not complicated and amounts to more of a “how will they pull it off” than a “whodunnit”. For readers who find exposition tiresome Rusch’s digressions to describe the history of Earth’s domed moon colonies or the particulars of construction might be a bit much, but those do not detract much from the story, and the characters and dialogue are so snappy that it should not matter much. Jay Snyder does an exceptional job narrating, juggling several characters and their voices with what seems like ease. An excellent pick, recommended for all who enjoy light sci-fi and detective stories.
