Important and efficient approach, boring narration

The book was refreshing to me and introduced some very important concepts, with great practical tips which I already started to successfully apply with my children. I'll definitely revisit this approach periodically.
Unfortunately I felt some parts are a bit repetitive and boring (especially as an audiobook, see note about narration below) which made it hard to follow everything and sometimes made me miss the most important points of the chapter.

The main downside: narration is quite monotonous and boring, which makes it hard to stay engaged.
Authors - please pay professional narrators to deliver your books and avoid the temptation to read it yourself.

Makes me want to go back to people management

I am currently not a people manager (I was in the past) but I know Gal from his great podcast so I wanted to give the book a try. I was not disappointed!
This is one of the best non-fiction books I've ever listened to. A lot of it was echoing things I already believed in, but there were several points which really made me think. The book really makes me want to get back to managing people, applying some of the great tips and points.

Robert Tendy also did a very good job of keeping things interesting and made the listening flow very nice - not an easy task for a non-fiction book without a lot of dialog.

Can't wait to listen to more of Gal's books.

Surprisingly enjoyable!

I came with very low expectations because of the other reviews, I was pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, "the story" didn't advance much, but what's the story in a LitRPG anyhow? You want to see how the character evolves, and this happened big time in this book, in a very enjoyable way.
Also, I really loved the fact that Richter went back to the basics of surviving tricky situations without an entire village of powerful and endless resources to support him for a change.

So yeah, as in the previous books there were parts that were too technical and could be shortened, but it didn't bother me much, and I really prefer a 16h long listen over a ~50h long listen like book 7.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable listen, definitely one of the best books in the genre that came out in 2020.

This book is looooong!

I wouldn’t have considered such a long book if not being already invested in the series (which has perfectly sized books till now)

In any case, there are some fun and fascinating battles and encounters that I would give 5/5, but also a lot of technical boring mechanics descriptions that should’ve been really shorter, and I think breaking this into 3-4 books would make better sense.

Slow start, but fascinating and inspiring overall

Starts a bit slow and boring, but towards the middle becomes really interesting and very inspiring.

A must for every gamer or anyone from the tech industry.

I think if it was a bit shorter and more to the point it would be one of the top (audio)books ever created.

Wil Wheaton is great as usual!

Very good performance and atmosphere, plot and writing could be better

I mostly liked the main characters and story, however there are a lot of quite boring side stories whose relevance is still a puzzle to me. Also, the main story is a bit slow and unclear at large parts of the book, it feels as if Shadow just drifts from place to place without a purpose for way too long.
