I have been very fascinated with the story of the Murdaugh's story and I've watched several documentaries on the subject. What I appreciated the most about this book is the context that it added to the family. Most of the documentaries alluded to the family having all kinds of power but did not really go into depth. Adding that context really shines a light on how crazy this family really is! very interesting!

The disease process is explained in easily digestible science with the author's life experience, both professional and personal. The author is an addiction medicine physician, as well as an addict in recovery. The disease of addiction is explained in a way that anyone can understand, with bits and pieces from the authors's memoir to highlight the various aspects of the explanations.

Phenomenal book by a phenomenonal person. I am a Substance use disorder counselor and because of this book I am able to break down difficult brain and body chemistry to the people that I work with. Holly really hit the nail on the head with this book. after watching Secrets of Playboy on A&E, I decided to look up Holly's book. I couldn't stop listening. Playboy has held such a high regarding society, it's amazing to see what the underbelly was actually like. this book's trying to whole new light on Holly. definitely worth a listen! Holly is a great narrator as well. I'm incredibly impressed with how well this is written and thoroughly enjoyed it!
