This series is just getting better and better. There are bigger stakes and bigger monsters, and you better believe nobody is who they claim to be. Berengar is asked to preside over one ceremony, simple, right? Well... not when it's Berengar, who seems to attract complicated plots that need uncomplicated solutions - his might and his axe. Morwen is still soldiering on, trying to keep Berengar from killing absolutely everybody, "because it's easier". He is the hero that Dun Aulin deserves :)

Matt Addis is brilliant, as always. Oh my. Love that voice.

Guess what happens in this book? Yup, there are entities that take a body, and give you the rest of the person - knowledge, skills, memories... for a price, of course. It's a great idea for world-building and boy, I like those.

The story itself revolves around Seth, who should have been on the "take the body" part of the equation, and suddenly found himself on the "and give me the rest" side. Some people of course didn't like that turn of events, and so a fast-paced chase ensues. Julius Schenk won't bog you down with details or long-winded descriptions, there's exactly enough information in the story to make you understand and enjoy all the plot twists. Tom Adams does a great job narrating, and has a very pleasant voice. Some people might want to turn up the speed of his narration, but I quite like it as it is, clean and well thought-out.

I'm glad I spent my credit on this book and can't wait for the sequel. Great job, Jules!

WWJAD: What would Jane Austen do?

The premise of this Pride and Prejudice reimagining was to see how Jane Austen would have continued the story, if one key moment at the beginning went differently. Turns out, everything would have gone a lot smoother! Not that Elizabeth lost her prejudices easily, it was more of an internal thing in this version. Less drama :D And many other characters got a bit more satisfying storyline. Caroline Bingley, especially.

It was an enjoyable listen, I recommend it.

Two strong-headed fools get saved by a sister

I think Cinnamon wrote this story just to see how far you can push events based on one huge misunderstanding. Turns out, very far, provided that the characters are as pig-headed as Phillip and Julia! After a while, you just wish to knock their heads together, so their marbles would rattle to the correct pathways again. Which is, basically, what Julia's sister Allison finally does.

Kudos goes to Cinnamon Worth for great writing, because I'm usually quickly irritated by misunderstandings in romantic plots (or those moments when the hero and heroine keep missing each other by seconds, isn't that annoying?!). But this story flowed so nicely and the characters were so sweet that I didn't end up frustrated and instead enjoyed the book a lot. The narrator does a good job, especially with male characters.

After the Wrath of Lords, I had my expectations for this book set high, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. The story takes you to a royal court which very quickly becomes a crime scene. A fledgling magician Morwen pesters Berengar until she can join his investigation and help him out. After he finally gives in, they make an unusual but very effective (and likeable) pair of warden-detectives. Morwen makes Berengar reflect on his tragic past and so you get glimpses of his softer side. This story is very much worth a listen.

Mark Addis' narration was a pleasure to listen to, as always. The man knows his craft.

I would dearly love to know what lady Emma's father thought when he left her as a ward to his young, handsome and business-skilled arch-enemy. Probably something similar to the Duke's mother, his childhood friend - that they might make a match of it! So thinks the Duke's friend, who bets on who the beautiful lady will marry in the end. The Duke is firmly in denial, of course...

The Duke's Wayward Ward is a lovely historical romance bound to fill your day with good humour. Duke and Duchess DeFoix did a splendid job narrating the respective character's points of view, as usual.

"I must make my granny happy before she goes" - such a lovely sentiment on Damien's side, isn't it? He engages a lady he met on the road to act as his betrothed to please his Grandmama. But dear Grandmama somehow isn't kicking the bucket in the expected time frame. Also, not being a half-wit, she realizes what is going on... and enters the plotting with a scheme of her own. It's all for Damien's benefit, of course...

This is a romance, so you can well guess the outcome, but it's definitely worth listening to because of the lovely characters Sharol Louise had populated her story with. Some have pure hearts, some have not - and in the midst of that is one thoroughly confused Viscount. He kind of had it coming :)

Doro Jillings's narration is very pleasant. In short, Secret Bride is a joy to listen to. Give it a go!

Folks, I'm SO glad I chose this audiobook. The blurb itself promised something different and I definitely got it with Berengar, the not-so-classical-fantasy-hero, dare I say anti-hero? He's capable and has his own view of things... that just might get a bit challenged in The Wrath of Lords.

The book draws on Irish myths and legends, the world is grim, almost no one is what they seem. Great storytelling, and Berengar is very likeable. Also, Matt Addis's narration is SUPERB. I hope he narrates all the Warden of Fal series.

Theodore is not one of those debauched dukes one meets in the usual historical romances. He is amiable and kind, just inconvenienced by some mistakes he made. His brother in law aims to teach him a lesson by sending him to work in a cotton mill, which works out better than expected. No wonder, this is Sheri Cobb South's story and she has a great talent for making characters loveable and stories sparking. She doesn't make much social commentary about the unhealthy cotton mills of the past, but you get the idea even through the charming lightheartedness of the story. It's a positive story and it won't let you down.

Also, there is a fun epilogue that made me squeal :) I won't spoil it for you though, go listen to The Desperate Duke yourself.
