Charming characters.

The story covered a lot of ground:
Abusive parents, personal growth, child with polio, wartime decoders, out of wedlock sex and maintaining virtue before marriage. Also included the royal family with Phillip, eElizabeth, and Margaret.
The pain of lost love. The trauma of losing loved ones in wartime. Horrible that Francis and Lucy died, I’m not sure I could forgive Beth for not averting that tragedy. A rescued dog. An insane asylum.
A royal wedding.
Some unexpected turns, some predictable.
I enjoyed the length of this audiobook. The ending was perhaps drawn out.

Interesting suspenseful twists

Good plot

The plot could have been developed better, leaving out some of the trite/sappy conversations. Difficult to distinguish voices of characters. I rolled my eyes a few times in response to the dramatic reading style.
