Keeping things professional with my employees has never been an issue. Until she waltzed onto my property. Billie is talented. She's mouthy. And she's so damn tempting. I can't stop thinking about all the ways I could take her down a peg. I can't stop thinking about her, period. We clash from the moment we meet. And in a small town, on an even smaller farm, it's hard to keep your distance. It's even harder to keep that friction from turning to fire. But keeping my distance? That might be the biggest struggle of all.

It's hard to be original when greek mythology is the inspiration for so many modern fantasy novels, but I still managed to enjoy this Hades and Persephone retelling. Not earth shattering, but a solid choice for anyone who enjoys romantasy.

Keep going, it's worth it!!
Revisado: 07-13-23
Bravo to any author who can build an entire intricate and fascinating universe--Tracy Wolff and Nina Croft did just that.
Honestly though, you have to push through the first dozen chapters or so. I almost DNF'd it because of the cringey dialogue in the beginning. There were some major Star Wars fanfic vibes going on, and I was initially disappointed because I wanted to love this book so much.
Thankfully, some of my bookish friends convinced me to keep going, and by the end....it was definitely worth it.
This is a great stepping stone into the world of Sci-Fi for those of us who haven't been heavily immersed in the genre.
My one complaint is that the audio definitely has some issues with repetition and skipping ahead. I don't feel like I missed a whole lot, and the narrators are FANTASTIC, but I would recommend buying the physical or Kindle versions until the audio adaption is fixed.
I'm looking forward to the continuation of the series, and hope y'all give Star Bringer a chance!

He's back. Not just back in town, but living in the flat right beneath mine. And he looks good enough to eat, which is just one more reason to stay away from him. But I can't resist. The sex is incredible (pretty sure we've shaken the house right off its foundation), but he can't fool me - not this time. A degree in marketing and five years in advertising have taught me that "true love" is a fairy tale used to sell lipstick, diamonds, and perfume. It doesn't exist. He thinks I'm wrong, and he wants to prove it. I think he's crazy, so I dare him to try.

Slow to fall in love...
Revisado: 07-03-23
The first few chapters originally convinced me that I would hate this book. "Put his pig in her blanket," and other such ridiculous metaphors made me absolutely cringe. But I'm a sucker for a brother's best friend type of romance, so I pushed through....and I'm not sorry I did.
There was nothing flashy, original, or Earth-shattering about this book, but it was still charming. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sappy second chance love stories with feel-good moments and a little heartache sprinkled in.
