Historia
Ever since Prue McKeel returned home from the Impassable Wilderness after rescuing her brother from the malevolent Dowager Governess, life has been pretty dull. School holds no interest for her, and her new science teacher keeps getting on her case about her dismal test scores and daydreaming in class. Her mind is constantly returning to the verdant groves and sky-tall trees of Wildwood, where her friend Curtis still remains as a bandit-in-training. But all is not well in that world. Dark assassins with mysterious motives conspire to settle the scores of an unknown client....

The story; a great second book in the series

I liked the author narrating more than the narrator of the first book... but found him at times to be a bit monotone. I love this story and series though!

Enjoyed this overall though the end seemed rushed. Easy listening all in all. The romance wasn't over the top and blended well with the mystery.

I'm one of those people who loves to re-listen to audiobooks at times. I can always re-listen to this adaptation of LOTR!
With a full cast and many of my favourite 'scenes' from the books, I think this is a great version of LOTR.

Decent Mystery/Adventure -- some issues
Revisado: 08-11-20
I had high hopes for this book...but I have to admit I was not really impressed in the end. There were A LOT of characters, the issues around the reservation and relationships to First Nations peoples were not really explored, female characters were eh, and I realized partway through I didn't really like the main character. It was still a decent mystery, and I did enjoy some of the characters, as well as the landscape.

Surprised to find I loved it!
Revisado: 07-20-16
I enjoy books that are based in the fantastic and magical, but enjoy them even more when there are many elements of realism woven in.
The characters are well written, though with such a strong female character there were some elements to the male character that I had a hard time stomaching at first--but you can really see the complexity of the characters and why they are the way they are as the story progresses.
A wonderful novel, with two more in the series that are equally as enjoyable.
Also Jennifer Ikeda is a wonderful narrator!!

Revisado: 03-21-13
What did you like best about The Clocks? What did you like least?
I do enjoy Agatha Christie, but when I this popped up as Hercule Poirot, I was not expecting him to be a character who is only featured on occasion. Also, of all the plots, I found this one the most hard to believe at the end...not a bad listen at all, just not my fave of the Hercule Poirot stories.
Would you be willing to try another book from Agatha Christie? Why or why not?
Absolutely, have listened to lots of her other stuff and enjoy it.
Which character – as performed by Hugh Fraser – was your favorite?
Poirot. Shocker, since I was seeking stories about him...
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Nope. Movies are long, overpriced and not worth it unless they are the Lord of the Rings or James Bond :)

Good for kids and adults alike
Revisado: 12-28-11
What made the experience of listening to Hoot the most enjoyable?
The narrator has an easy-to-listen-to voice, though not a lot of emphasis on distinguishing between characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mullet Fingers was my favourite, because he is a determined mystery.
What about Chad Lowe’s performance did you like?
Clear sarcasm and conviction in the storyline.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Actually, no. It's quite realistic and I needed short breaks from reality.
Any additional comments?
A great book by Carl Hiassen for readers that prefer a real taste of reality. If you've read his adult titles you will find this one completely non-sexual, but still full of wit and sarcasm. It's definitely a

A good listen for busywork
Revisado: 08-23-11
I have always enjoyed Tom Clancy, and this one is an oldie, but a goodie! I had not read some of the earlier books, so learning about some of the characters in later novels was fascinating. The narrator has a pleasant voice, but seems to lose track of whose voice is whose a couple of times in conversations, so listen to those carefully. I always prefer unabridged, but I found this one especially long. I sometimes tuned out, only to realize something important had happened, still I followed the novel with relative ease while working on other projects. If you're a big fan of Tom Clancy, give it a listen. If you're a bit impartial to him, he has faster paced books than this to listen to.

My first Koontz
Revisado: 08-15-11
I had never heard or read a Dean Koontz book, and went on the recommendations of audible listeners for this one. The narration is really excellent, I actually gave an extra star just based on that. The story itself started seemingly without purpose and gave me such a sense of unease and discomfort with the topic that I almost stopped listening--but patience paid off. Though there are some very unbelievable elements to this book, the characters and story are so carefully built up that when you finally realize what is going on, you can believe it is happening (assuming you don't mind a little science-fiction in your repertoire of reading). There were lots of twists and turns to this story, though I found in the end I was pretty sure what would happen. A thoroughly enjoyable listen, and as a friend said "Oh yes! And oldie...but a goodie."

It is The Campus. Secretly created under the administration of President Jack Ryan, its sole purpose is to eliminate terrorists and those who protect them. Officially, it has no connection to the American government - a necessity in a time when those in power consider themselves above such arcane ideals as loyalty, justice, and right or wrong.

Good stuff
Revisado: 08-14-11
Although I don't always agree with his political views, I do enjoy Tom Clancy's novels. Detailed, descriptive, intense, he always brings up fascinating topics, and this one is very relevant to the day. I enjoyed the dual perspective of both good guys and bad guys, even if the good guys perspective did prevail at times, as well as the continued use of past characters with reference to their past deeds. This novel brought up many debatable topics about covert operations and politics in general. I did at times get a little lost in the characters and plots, but picked them back up pretty easily. Be prepared for some strong political views written into the novel with a bit more bias than I personally generally appreciate, but for a good novel with another interesting "Jack Ryan" character involved. Good narration as well.
