I liked the characters. The narrator's Irish accent was awful to my Irish ears. The narrator is good at changing her voice for different characters.

The characters are richly developed. The time period and geographic areas described in detail. I have been in this area of Mayo and in Dublin. The characters of Ennismore ring true.

Another excellent novel from Julia Kelly
Revisado: 02-23-23
I love novels set in the WWII period. It's hard to believe this isn't a true story. I surmise it us an amalgam of many strong women who lived, loved, lost and did contributed to winning to winning the war.
My only criticism is that the Narrator though excellent doing so many voices, had the Canadian accent all wrong.

It starts out a bit slow, but do not be discouraged. The characters are well developed and they adherents to the historical time. Ms. Ellicott's research on the time period and location is evident. Good plot twists. I am eager to read the 2nd book inches series.

Determined to have the perfect English garden, her first job is to tear down the old shed, where she unearths much more than she’d bargained for: a body, apparently buried for decades. But who could it be, and who killed them? The police draw a blank, and even the gossip-fest that is the local book club can’t remember anyone going missing in the village.
