Seriously- it's a really good book. Do yourself a favor and read it.
The narrator speaks in a monotone and sounds like he has loose dentures or a mouth full of marbles. There is no distinction between characters- if you didn't know the story already, you wouldn't know who was speaking.
(This was especially disappointing after recently listening to Mean Streak and the excellent narration by Jonathan Davis.)

Sandra Brown is a favorite author and I enjoy reading & listening to her books. The narrator has a pleasant voice and does a fair job of reading; however, there is very little distinction between characters. If I hadn't already read the book, I wouldn't know who was supposed to be talking-- this makes the story difficult to follow. Liked the book. Disappointing narrator. Read it instead.

How unfortunate that Ms Rubinate was compelled to gush throughout this one... I have enjoyed reading all four Anchor Island books and also listening to the first three audiobooks. Sadly, the narration on this one is disappointing. Most of the dialogue of the leading characters is sing-songy and gushy. Bleh.

This is a must-have for fans of early Garwood books. I'm so pleased to finally have this book on audio and read to me by an outstanding narrator. This one is a long-time favorite and the audio version is no disappointment. Perfect!!

Garwood and Landor are a great match! I love reading the books, and now I can enjoy listening to them. Garwood and Landor are great companions while walking or driving or ... anything!!

Please (Brilliance Audio?) please, please consider re-recording the other recently released Garwood classics-- The Secret, Lion's Lady, Guardian Angel, Ransom. They, too, deserve the talent and expert performance of Rosalyn Landor. I would even spend credits or money for audio books I already own if she were the narrator. Pleeeeease.
(I bought two Garwood books narrated by Susan Duerden and shuddered throughout the dreadful performances. Another reviewer suggested using 1.5 speed and this helped a bit. I have resisted purchasing the other two for fear that they would also be ruined by the narrator.)
Although I already own the audio books, I would even buy Honor's Splendour, The Prize, and Rebellious Desire again if Rosalyn Landor were the Narrator. I would probably enjoy listening to her read the phone book-- she's that good!

If you could sum up The Secret in three words, what would they be?

"Read the book."or perhaps-- "Favorite nearly ruined"I was thrilled to see the release of a long-time favorite. However, the narration almost ruined it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Secret?

It's still one of my favorite books from Julie Garwood. Read the book. Save your money or credit-- read the book instead.

What didn’t you like about Susan Duerden’s performance?

I hardly liked anything about the performance. Her breathy, sing-songy cadence was almost unbearable. I had to force myself to finish listening to the book. And this is a book that I've read nearly a dozen times!!I was looking forward to getting the other recent audiobooks of early Garwood-- Lion's Lady and Ransom; however, so far, this is the only one I have gotten. The others have the same narrator and I am reluctant to risk ruining those, too. Why not Rosalyn Landor-- as in The Bride or Shadow Music or Prince Charming?

Any additional comments?

Please consider a different narrator-- Rosalyn Landor or Steve West or Kevan Brighting or Simon Prebble or ...
