Fantastic, short, accurate overview of the Psalms

Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

Simple, Real, Practical Advice from a Real Human

I’m a Jon Acuff fan. Every story, aside, and paragraph offers advice that the common man can follow. It isn’t Challenger Deep stuff. It is advice, that when applied, can make me better, more focused, and more focused on the right things.
(Also, his sense of humor is similar to mine so I find myself laughing a good bit among the head nods and the “why am I not already doing that?” moments.

Best parenting book I have read/listened to

This book challenged me as a parent in so many ways. It drew me closer to my God and Savior as a parent. It pointed with every phrase at the issue of our heart instead of ways to modify behavior. This book is filled with cutting words written and spoken with nothing but love and compassion and grace and mercy. It brings needed, godly correction tenderly.
