Decent second installment
Revisado: 04-13-18
This is a good second book in the series about the end of the world, but I was getting a little annoyed by the end about the ridiculousness of a person in a world headed toward apocalypse to be so hell-bent on solving a meaningless case. But overall the story was good, and performance was good.

Fantastically performed
Revisado: 07-01-17
I think Claire Daines is my new favorite narrator. Fascinating (if frightening) story, and well performed.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Insightful
Revisado: 08-17-16
I am fascinated by the topic of this book -- social and cultural differences that are the result of socioeconomic status in the US, and this book was fantastic. I especially loved that the author didn't try to make sweeping generalizations about how to solve the problems that currently disproportionately affect the white working class, and he is very careful not to blame one political party or one person within a political party, but he does examine how both "the system" and the behaviors and attitudes of people are compounding a problem. Insightful and fascinating read (or listen, I guess).
