Historia
When the Imperial prison barge Purge—temporary home to five hundred of the galaxy’s most ruthless killers, Rebels, scoundrels, and thieves—breaks down in a distant part of space, its only hope appears to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting and seemingly abandoned. But when a boarding party from the Purge is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back—bringing with them a horrific disease so lethal that within hours, nearly all aboard the Purge die in ways too hideous to imagine.

Great Narrator
Revisado: 02-24-20
Good story line. I suggest you read Red Harvest first, although I don’t think they were written in order. It gives you a little bit of idea of where this storyline comes from, but technically they aren’t tied together.
The reader does a great job. He’s a good voice actor. Wish the Star Wars publications used him more often.
Book is written well. Pretty gory, enough adjectives and scene explanation to visualize where you are without losing sight of the plot and where the story is going.

Historia
Twenty years have passed since Darth Bane, reigning Dark Lord of the Sith, demolished the ancient order devoted to the dark side and reinvented it as a circle of two: one Master to wield the power and pass on the wisdom, and one apprentice to learn, challenge, and ultimately usurp the Dark Lord in a duel to the death. But Bane’s acolyte, Zannah, has yet to engage her Master in mortal combat and prove herself a worthy successor. Determined that the Sith dream of galactic domination will not die with him, Bane vows to learn the secret of a forgotten Dark Lord that will assure the Sith’s immortality - and his own.

Decent addition
Revisado: 02-16-20
Decent addition to the Thrawn series. Good to find out what happened to some people that disappeared in some of the first books. Story line was engaging and kept me interested. A few nuances that were quite annoying but maybe that’s just me. Ties in with the newer stories but definitely doesn’t tie in with the expanded universe. They changes Thrawns persona a bit to fit the Disney narrative.

It was okay.
Revisado: 02-16-20
Not really a viable part of the whole Star Wars story line. Didn’t really fit anywhere and didn’t really portray the personalities already given to each character. I got lost in the story line a few times and had to rewind. Might just be me but it didn’t keep my attention like most stories do.

Not bad. Not great.
Revisado: 07-25-19
The story line is interesting. Filling in gaps where the prequels didn’t quite explain but I found myself zoning out while listening more often on this one. The tone of the novel wasn’t very enthralling. The narrator did well trying to spruce it up a bit but I’m afraid he didn’t have much to work with. I was a little taken aback by how Darth Bane was such and interesting character with an intense background but Darth Sidious was definitely not. He politically mastered and conquers which unfortunately works but for story and plot lines it’s a bit boring.

It’s okay
Revisado: 01-12-19
Didn’t think the Star Wars universe would make a zombie apocalypse story with Sith kids and a talking flower. The talking flower bit was cheesy. I was taken back by calling someone a Jedi and not having a single lick of Jedi sense. Happened more than once in this novel. Following around the main character... which I guess was the female flower communicator??
Was difficult, she didn’t have a lick of sense or smarts or knew when to shut up. A frustrating cry me a river story. The zombie part was... not original. Whoever was reading this, word by grueling annunciated sounded out word, ruined it for me. My kids can read in story version better. You couldn’t tell when it was description or speaking parts or what was going on sometimes. If you want to read this one, buy it in book format and read it yourself. It won’t take away from the Star Wars legends if you skip it. Seriously, just skip it.

Finally her story will begin to be told. Following her experiences with the Jedi and the devastation of Order 66, Ahsoka is unsure she can be part of a larger whole ever again. But her desire to fight the evils of the Empire and protect those who need it will lead her right to Bail Organa - and the Rebel Alliance.

Revisado: 08-09-18
Interesting take on Ahsoka. This story doesn’t really put her in the same light as the Clone Wars cartoon series does. It makes her look like a lost little coward girl.
Unfortunately the narration is TERRIBLE. The reader may be a great voice actress for JUST ONE VOICE. No versatility and no ability to read a story... and make it sound exciting. I wouldn’t let my five year old listen to this dictation and learn from it, it sounds like a bad habit. Hard to follow. No flow. Too often get lost on which character is supposed to be speaking. Should have rented the book from a library and read it myself but can’t find the need to do that now because this narration has ruined it for me.

Historia
“I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.” Ominous words under any circumstances, but all the more so when uttered by Emperor Palpatine. On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root - its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Old / new Canon
Revisado: 08-09-18
While Mr Zahn is a great writer, I find it rather daunting that he has changed Thrawns path with these new books to portray someone totally different than the original Thrawn series. I feel like the further into the new genre we go the more we are going to see his fate change completely. Thrawns original demise was theatrical where karma in the end got the best of him. Here I feel we are rewriting something Disney is overseeing and the Thrawn we grew to love will eventually just have Micky Mouse ears.
I do like the new Voice but it’s difficult listening to tell if Thrawn is thinking or speaking.
The same with Anakin and Vader. I’m sure in the book it comes out better but here it tended to be confusing or sometimes even repetitive.
Overall still a great way to spend 12 hours in the car taking my mind off of how droll the drive was.
Anxious to see where this all leads.
