Historia
Award-winning author and human rights activist Ishmael Beah brings us The Door to Tamba, a powerful story centered on a mining village in West Africa where the destruction of earth and pollution of life impacts the mind, body, and soul of communities. Hindolo, a storyteller, returns to his hometown after 30 years and recalls the solitary and formidable old man who opened his home to him and introduced a world of literature and imagination, which for many years, was his only escape. Hindolo begins writing the stories down on paper stolen from a nearby mine to share with his classmates.

Great story but…
Revisado: 07-04-21
Enjoyed the sister dynamics and their crazy issues. I could see myself, my sister and my girlfriends in all of them. However, the narrator was irritating! She paused when she shouldn’t and her inflections were way off. It definitely would have been easier to follow if the narrator understood how commas are used when reading and when to use inflections.

Historia
In a tradition that runs from R. M. Williamson’s Bits from an Old Bookshop in 1904 to Jen Campbell’s Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops in 2012 (with George Orwell’s 1936 Bookshop Memories in between), here is the latest and perhaps most complete attempt to classify people who shop in bookstores. It does take all kinds. Employing something like Linnaean taxonomic groups, there’s the Expert (divided into subspecies from the Bore to the Helpful Person), the Young Family (ranging from the Exhausted to the Aspirational), and more.

Enjoyable!

Overall the book was quite enjoyable. As the narrator read I could totally imagine the characters in roaming around the book store. I even laughed out loud a few times!

Historia
The toast of Europe, Josephine Evans had spent 30 years abroad establishing her reputation as one of the finest actresses of her generation. In Amsterdam, she redefined who and what an African American diva could be, and her legions of loyal fans loved her for it. But when a war she didn't even understand suddenly makes her the target of angry anti-American protests, Josephine is forced to return to America to see if she can find a new definition of home.

Pleasant surprise!!

This book was wonderfully written and the narrator was perfect. Her ability to change her voice to represent different characters was spot on. I truly enjoyed it and recommend it to all.
