Pure Waste of Time....
Revisado: 09-03-21
I was a huge fan of Louise Penny but this book will be my last. This was not an interesting story and I was so disappointed. The plot was ridiculous and I could care less about any of the characters. This book took a long time to get to the point and by the time the mystery (if you can call it that) was solved I felt like I really wasted my time and my credit. I hate the narrator, his pronunciations are often annoying and mispronounced. I just felt the book was just over written.

Historia
Guido Brunetti faces a heinous crime committed outside his jurisdiction. He is drawn in innocently enough: two young American women have been badly injured in a boating accident, joyriding in the Laguna with two young Italians. However, Brunetti's curiosity is aroused by the behavior of the young men, who abandoned the victims after taking them to the hospital. If the injuries were the result of an accident, why did they want to avoid association with it?

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-23-21
I have all her books in this series. I have enjoyed the characters and stories but over time I think she has lost her focus. This book was so slow and boring, I wondered where the story was going. Then suddenly I didn't care. The ending was so abrupt I couldn't believe I invested time in listening to this book. I will think carefully about future books from this series. David Colacci is perfect as the narrator and I think he was wasted here.

Historia
On June 22, 1954, teenage friends Juliet Hulme - better known as best-selling mystery writer Anne Perry - and Pauline Parker went for a walk in a New Zealand park with Pauline’s mother, Honora. Half an hour later, the girls returned alone, claiming that Pauline’s mother had had an accident. But when Honora Parker was found in a pool of blood with the brick used to bludgeon her to death close at hand, Juliet and Pauline were quickly arrested, and later confessed to the killing.

AWFUL
Revisado: 04-25-20
Story is all over the place and managed to make a tragedy absolutely boring. In addition, the narrator seems to be reading the story as if he is using his finger to follow the sentences. He is the worst. Will never ever get a book if he is the narrator.

Historia
1952. Millers Kill Police Chief Harry McNeil is called to a crime scene where a woman in a party dress has been murdered with no obvious cause of death. 1972. Millers Kill Police Chief Jack Liddle is called to a murder scene of a woman that's very similar to one he worked as a trooper in the '50s. The only difference is this time, they have a suspect. Young Vietnam War veteran Russ van Alstyne found the body while riding his motorcycle and is quickly pegged as the prime focus of the investigation.

Dull Plot, Not worth the wait!
Revisado: 04-11-20
I have loved this series but this one was so boring I am not sure I would continue to listen to future books. Didn't enjoy the constant back and forth between decades. Lost interest in storyline. I don't like books that leave you with cliffhangers. Especially since this author takes a long time between novels.

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

I read this one first and then bought the other two. These are excellent page turners. I think he captures the 1968 Vietnam era very well. Hope he will keep this series going. Had me guessing and thinking. Was not disappointed at all.

Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

Predictable
Revisado: 10-28-19
I have read all the Bosch novels and enjoyed them until now. I find the two narrators very distracting. Also too much of Renee and not enough Harry. I had the story figured out fairly quickly and it felt as if the ending was rushed. Too bad for such a great character. The stories are becoming predictable and Harry is just getting old. Renee is boring and not believable.

This was such an annoying read. The "supposed" twists were nothing more than a gimmick. I had the plot figured out a third of the way through. A complete waste of time.

Historia
The police in Jersey County, Illinois, accepted Paula Sims' story of a masked kidnapper who snatched her baby girl, Lorelei, from her bassinet. Three years later, her second newborn daughter suffered an identical fate - and this time the police were unable to stop searching until they had discovered the whole horrifying truth. This is the full terrifying story of twisted sexuality and hate seething below the surface of a seemingly normal family and of the massive investigation and nerve-shattering trial that made the unthinkable a reality.

Beyond Tedious
Revisado: 03-25-19
The story was interesting but the writing and narrator was just plain boring. Too many side stories and not enough factual information. In the end I just didn't care about any of the characters. Story could have been told in about 7 hours.
