Historia
We think of the FBI as America’s police force. But secret intelligence is the Bureau’s first and foremost mission. Enemies is the story of how presidents have used the FBI as the most formidable intelligence force in American history. This is the first definitive history of the FBI’s secret intelligence operations, from an author whose work on the Pentagon and the CIA won him the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.

A woman boards a plane in the African country of Burkina Faso having just completed a targeted assassination for the state of Israel. Two minutes later, her plane is blown out of the sky. Historia
In his critically acclaimed Armageddon, Hastings detailed the last twelve months of the struggle for Germany. Here, in what can be considered a companion volume, he covers the horrific story of the war against Japan. By the summer of 1944 it was clear that Japan’s defeat was inevitable, but how the drive to victory would be achieved remained to be seen. The ensuing drama–that ended in Japan’s utter devastation–was acted out across the vast stage of Asia.

On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. Life Changing
Revisado: 03-23-23
I am an Army company commander, and the leadership lessons in this book are literally life changing. The lessons are hard, and the application even more difficult, but do not pass this book up. As a former civilian logistics professional I can attest these principles apply in the workplace too. Lessons learned in combat have been tested in the toughest conditions imaginable. Jocko and Leif clearly explain the difference between combat and work and lay out the path towards better civilian leadership. Don’t be fooled into thinking this book only applies to type A military officers. It can help anyone!

An airport novel about airplanes
Revisado: 01-20-23
This book is not great literature, but if you want a fun if cheesy book, check this one out. The flight scenes are at times gripping and realistic. The globe trotting detective work is also fun. It’s hokey at times but this a good page turner.

Historia
Vietnam became the Western world’s most divisive modern conflict, precipitating a battlefield humiliation for France in 1954, then a vastly greater one for the US in 1975. Max Hastings has spent the past three years interviewing scores of participants on both sides, as well as researching a multitude of American and Vietnamese documents and memoirs, to create an epic narrative of an epic struggle. Here are the vivid realities of strife amid jungle and paddies that killed two million people.

Brilliant and Objective History
Revisado: 11-23-22
This book is an excellent history of the Vietnam War. The fact that the author is British only adds to that fact. The author is fair and unbiased and doesn’t have a political axe to grind. As an American there were parts of the book that were unpleasant to read but he doesn’t shy away from criticizing the communists either. Quite the contrary in fact. If you are a communist you will not like this book because it tells the truth. If, on the other hand, you enjoy reading the truth, I encourage you to try this one.
