Arrogant asshole bullies peasants.
Revisado: 09-25-24
The book and premise starts off okay, i get him being weird and not really caring about his family. But now im 11hrs in and he is still just super arrogant, rude to everyone and the only feelings he has is annoyance. There were points early on with some flashbacks to his previuos childhood where you could compare them and have him become more normal and start to like his family. instead he just becomes more of an arrogant asshole with 0 concern for friends or family. Also what is the deal with every 10th word being mana and him whining about it like at some point I GET IT HE HAS LESS MANA and wont use even a little bit to make life better for the ppl that love and care for him since that would not be optimal efficency and even tough there is 1 sentece where he "realises he cares for them" it is not shown in any actions or internal monologue ever again.
tldr, arrogant mage that only has 1 feeling and that is annoyed/hate his family, is reborn to a loving family but all he does is be rude, demanding and emotionless. The only good thing about this was the narrators.

Still amazing
Revisado: 08-29-23
I still love this series, even if leveling high feels like anoyoing extra hardship. Narration is on point and keeps fights exciting wich some voice actors kinda fail to do, its done really good here.
Keep up the amazing work!

Historia
"Investigation, Mediation, Vindication." That's how the Yellow Pages ad starts, and if it sounds like the sort of thing a drunk teenager might come up with . . . well, you'd only be wrong about the teenager part. John Smith owns San Diego's smallest private investigation firm, but he doesn't know the first thing about mediation. Or vindication.

You climb on to the ride with some crabmen then it just goes full speed ahead. I could not put it down planned to listen over 2-3 days but just stayed up all night and finished it in one go. Humor is on point and characters are uniqe and fun!
I enjoy the supernatural detective stories. Most are Just dark and get darker the longer the series goes on. This is a fun ride with amazing characters.
10/10 will listen to it again when next book releases.

The MC is 30 not 60 Whaaaaa
Revisado: 08-17-22
First of all yes very good, and the governments are evil i feel that in my bones. looking forward to more adventure,
The MC is dying his hair gray hes not actually a 60 year old man. Like sometimes the author just makes all his internal dialogue like he is 60+ Im an old man, Shes a kid.. Or stuff like My leg hurt and its not good in 3hrs so that means im super old. Hes not even middle age like it annoys me. Pick a age of the character and make him act more like it not just hes 30 but acts like 60 from time to time.

Liked it
Revisado: 10-12-21
The book is fun and lighthearted, the one thing that i was not a huge fan of was the "mystery" its to easy there is no twist i would like there to be more detective work and go deeper into the mystery.

Historia
Vampires exist. Michael knows this because one attacked him when he was 21 years old. What Michael doesn’t know is who she was, how it happened, or why she did what she did. What little he does know about being a vampire, he learned the hard way. The self-taught way. He’s also alone. Michael knows that better than anything else. What Michael doesn’t know is that a chance encounter will drag him out of exile and thrust him into an adventure stranger than anything he could possibly imagine.

Revisado: 06-05-21
The book is good and got some nice original ideas, and the narration works well also with a good reading tempo wich is nice.
Its worth the credit but there is way WAY WAAAY to much crying like they hugged and cried they looked at that and cried There is crying multiple times in every chapter its crazy but its like happy crying sad crying crying... There are other ways to express anxiety or happyness The men cry the women cry everyone cries.
Other than that very nice.

Tossing in random slavery and torture
Revisado: 04-27-20
The book is not as amazing as everyone here says, there is almost no relationships between characters like they meet he tells them what he wants like some random dude playing a RTS gama and then it moves on.
There is also alot of scenes describing torture and super evil and vile ppl but no glimmers of that ever being resolved. fat incompetent leaders eating and beating ppl to death and there is no point to it like no thought of maybe this should be somthing some1 should be againts. The plot moves fast with the townbuilding wich is 90% and super slow with the actual plot and him getting to know the world and other ppl. im 10hrs in and he has no friends no love interests and no close relationships other than as "master" servant feels pointless and booring.
WHY IS HE EVEN BUILDING UP THE TOWN? whats the motivation? Hes not interested in becoming a king but he needs more power? hes not interested in changing the laws of slavery or stopping the war just letting shit happen even tough hes pretty much a god to these ppl.
