Pretty good
Revisado: 03-15-25
Decent story. It was a little over the top like some of these books tend to be …. Depicting characters sustaining injuries that would be crippling and still fighting. And there are more elements like that, but still pretty good

Awful

I kept listening hoping it would get better. It didn’t. The story was two dimensional making the already over done audio and performances grating. I strongly recommend not wasting your time with this audiobook.

old school Bond villains - this story is for you
Revisado: 07-15-24
The story was awful. There was no sophistication. Utterly unrealistic. The sound effects not only do not contribute to the story, they seem more likely to designed to cover up the poor writing. If you like the stupidity of old school Bond villains then you love this story.

Awful narrator almost ruins a great book
Revisado: 03-08-24
I have to begin with the narration which is terrible. The narrator is melodramatic and is often heard exhaling through his nose and smacking his lips. He manages to make every character sound like the are 100 years old and when he is in narrator mode he seems to be trying to be a Shakespearean actor.
The story is good, but at times convoluted. There are a few plot twists that are over the top and so outside the bounds of reality that even without any background in the subject matter they will probably leave one scratching their head. I don't want spoil the story by offering specifics. But despite that the story is interesting.

Fingers on a Chalkboard
Revisado: 01-21-24
Just don't !!!! This was terrible! The story was flat at best. Characters not even one-dimensional. My dog could have come up with a better plot. Performance was terrible - the worst I have ever heard. The sound effects were like fingers on a chalkboard. Even if they had been well done, and they were absolutely not, they would have been distracting. The grunts and sounds of exertion during fights and the like sound more like someone who is constipated rather than fighting. When you combine a crappy story with terrible sound effects ... just don't.

US Marshal Arliss Cutter is a born tracker. Raised in the swamplands of Florida, he honed his skills in the military, fought in the Middle East, and worked three field positions for Marshal Services. When it comes to tracking someone down - or taking someone out - Cutter's the best. But his newest assignment is taking him out of his comfort zone to southeast Alaska. Cold, dark, uninhabited forests that are often shrouded in fog. And it's the kind of case that makes his blood run cold.

Great story, poor narration
Revisado: 08-13-23
Great story and characters. The narrator nearly ruins it between his annoying inflection that makes characters sound constipated or his near constant lick lipping and swallowing noises.

The worst part?
Revisado: 06-14-23
Worst part 1 - if accurate this is a story of astounding incompetence by law enforcement and prosecutors. Literally missing the types of things one routinely hears in the first 30 seconds of a police procedural show.
Worst part 2 - the author likewise comes across as unsophisticated, lacking in attention to detail, and generally failing to make a case that this guy, as repugnant as he was, was actually as horrific as made out to be in terms of his ultimate toll.
Worst part 3 - the performance was awful. If a narrator can’t do different voices, then at least find a narrator that is the same gender as 90 percent of the characters.

Psychologist and criminologist Dr. Gretchen White is a specialist in antisocial personality disorders and violent crimes. Complicated predictable bad narration
Revisado: 05-28-23
Narrators shouldn’t try accents unless they can nail them. And we get it, Gretchen sees us all as empaths. Wanted to puke having heard the word so much. All the female characters are strong and all the make characters are weak. This too gets annoying. I would skip this one.
