Fantastic urban fantasy with an awesomely fierce heroine. This is the kind of book where I was a little sad to finish it because I wanted to stay immersed in that world a little longer.

I followed the unfolding of the Theranos debacle in the news, and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to hear Tyler Schulz describe the events in his own voice. It was a compelling listen - I spent every scrap of time I could listening to it over the past day.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot. It filled in a lot of gaps in my grasp of English history -- here in the US, many schools, including the ones I attended, tend to go over the Battle of Hastings and the Magna Carta and then, after a brief detour into Chaucer, zoom on forward to Henry VIII -- and is well-told. Everyone except me seems to hate the narration, but I didn't have any issues with it.

A previous reviewer took issue with corn being mentioned as a grain product prior to its introduction to England in the 1500s. This is a point of confusion between American English and British English. In the UK, corn can refer to any type of grain, and the grain that Americans refer to as corn is called maize.
