Enjoyed the well-drawn out characters. I liked learning about life in Russia under Stalin, McCarthyism, government life in Washington, and gay life in the 1940’s and 50’s. Writing was colorful. The reader was fantastic

I'm not quite sure who wrote all the 4 star reviews, but if you are old enough to even know who the Three Stooges are, this book is too young for you, or visa versa. I couldn't finish it even though it was the free one of a BOGO offer.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No one.

Would you ever listen to anything by Larry Hall again?

No.

How could the performance have been better?

Anything. It was awful.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Digital Photography Guide?

Everything.

Any additional comments?

Don't even waste your time reading any reviews. This was worthless and out of date and difficult to even listen to.

Beer is Proof that God Loves Us Audiolibro Por Charles W. Bamforth arte de portada

Disappointed

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 06-07-11

I was disappointed that this seemed much more about corporate history and about the author (with a nice commercial for the corporation that brews Sierra Nevada) than it was about beer itself, which the title and subtext implies. A brief skim about medical research on alcohol and an even briefer tips about beer itself seemed thrown in to justify the title. I was sorry to waste my money and time on it.

Very Disappointed

I've absolutely loved Littell's other books and Scott Brick used to be a favorite reader, but I just had to give up on this one in less than 5 hours. To stretch out a suspense with long unrealistic dialogues between those on each side - do you expect me to believe that they actually face each other and repeat their arguments that were trite long ago and are well known by everyone on all sides of the conflict? And done in Brick's incessantly strident voice! I've easily accepted that he has only one foreign accent that works best with east European, but he could have gotten an Israeli speaker to help his pronunciations sound authentic, some of his Arabic was a little bit better. Obviously I can't give a full review because i just couldn't finish it. Hoping for better in the future.

Hit Man Audiolibro Por Lawrence Block arte de portada

a favorite

This is one of my favorite listens of all times since it came out on tape years ago. I have listened to it at least three times and never grow tired of it. I have been waiting for it to be available on Audible so that I can share the joy with friends. it's not the plot, but the man and his way of evaluating his moral and lifestyle dilemmas that's just terrific. Keller is an interesting lonely guy who just happens to be contract killer. His agent, Dot (Daht) is a hoot. Forster's reading and Chicago accent make a huge contribution. The recent Hit Parade is satisfying, but the author's voice isn't Keller, Forster's clearly is. For the bargain price, get this book and savor it.
