Historia
Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins. A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

A good read, different
Revisado: 07-19-24
Interesting story. A couple of twists under a feeling of dread. Like a movie where you are shouting, “Don’t open that door!” A fast read, you want to listen in one day.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

I think this book would be much better read than listened to. I do not believe that Ms. Tierney was the correct reader for this book. Her precise stilted even tone throughout didn’t seem to represent the emotions and passions of the large Italian family. She read William better but then a man could have done that too. I finished it because I started it. But, I would not recommend this audible to anyone. Just read it.

Great story
Revisado: 05-28-23
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book! I’m not usually a big Paterson fan. But, this was an interesting and suspenseful thriller! Loved the attention to detail and insider information President Clinton contributed. I enjoyed Denis Quaid’s narration. So, easy to picture Mr. Quaid as President Duncan!

There is something special about an author reading his own work! It makes the reading so much more authentic. Read just the way it was meant to be.

I’m confused as to why this book was narrated by a man. Also, He should have been counseled on the correct pronunciation of several of the words in this book. Fairly annoying.
