Historia
The folklore of Spanish America is full of exciting accounts of a wandering, shrieking, tormented spirit called La Llorona, the “Wailing Woman”. This is the first serious account of the frightening tale that has fascinated people for generations.

Narration was fantastic!
Revisado: 10-19-23
Narrator Wil Tabares was amazing! This was a lively performance including music, sound effects, & character voices that sounded natural and believable. The Mexican and Spanish names are pronounced naturally, without ever interrupting the flow of storytelling in English.
The book is in two parts: Part one is about the history of the legend. The storytelling happens in Part two. I personally was interested in the historu of the legend; but if you aren't, you can skip to Part two and be fine.

Suddenly, a DNA match on an online ancestry database brings Wilde closer to his past than he’s ever dreamed, and finally gives Wilde the opening he needs to track down his father.

What has the narrator got against character?
Revisado: 03-12-23
in this & the previous Wild book, narrator uses a grating, nails-on-chalkboard voice for Hester. Almost all the characters are from New Jersey, yet she's the only one given the accent. I absolutely cringed every time the natrator did Hester. It sounded like Richard Dreyfuss imitates Andy Rooney imitating a valley girl imitating an over-excited Snookie from Jersey Shore. If a real person talked like that, you'd walk away, refuse to let them speak.
What grudge has the narrator have against the character of Hester?

NOT about Catherine Dior
Revisado: 08-09-21
I bought this book to read about the amazing Resistance heroine Catherine Dior. instead, the book was a "harlequin romance" about two sisters finding love against the backdrop of occupied Paris. Catherine Dior's only presence in the book was as a foil for the two sisters' adventures. Dior was simply a shadow figure the sisters and other characters did things for. After listening to the book, I'm not even sure whether the book's characters -- apart from Christian and Catherine Dior -- were real or make-believe. If you want a wartime romance novel about "how two sisters found their man," this is it. If you want to learn about Catherine Dior's brave resistance against the Nazis, look elsewhere,
