Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Thank you for telling our story
Revisado: 10-24-24
As a woman who has been through an abusive marriage, I appreciate Colleen telling this story. People do not understand how hard it is to leave & why we don’t. I come from a long line of women marrying abusive men. I left my first after seeing I was no longer hiding the abuse from my 2 little girls and not wanting them to grow up and pick the same
kind of man. This brought back memories, tears & made me stand a little taller. Thank you.

Historia
Hangdog Days vividly chronicles the era when rock climbing exploded in popularity, attracting a new generation of talented climbers eager to reach new heights via harder routes and faster ascents. This contentious, often entertaining period gave rise to sport climbing, climbing gyms, and competitive climbing-indelibly transforming the sport. Jeff Smoot was one of those brash young climbers, and here he traces the development of traditional climbing "rules," enforced first through peer pressure, then later through intimidation and sabotage.

You almost feel like your there
Revisado: 12-12-23
I’m a climber, so I loved this book. The stories are rich and told in a way you feel like your there watching them unfold. There were a few folks I hadn’t heard of before, added bonus :)
I live in Oregon, and we call Smith Rock; Smith. I just saw a slide show by Allen Watts a few days before starting this books; so cool to meet the guy who found Smith climbing. Todd Skinner definitely deserves high praise for pushing limits and ideas. I wonder what those old school trad guys would think of stick clips and 3D printing holds lol! All in all great read!!

Heart wrenching & powerful
Revisado: 07-13-23
This story is incredibly moving & so raw. - no sugar coating here. So many thoughts and feelings running through my body it’s hard to know where to start with this review. My heart ached for Katie listening to how horrible her mother was/is to her. Her struggle with anorexia hit home being that I struggled with eating disorders for 23 yrs. I understand the pain of wanting someone to notice, someone to care…especially your parent/s. As a climber I’m grateful attention is finally being brought to EDs in the climbing community. It’s been over looked in sport for far too long. It took such strength & courage to write this book; I respect the hell out her for doing it. Thank you Katie for sharing your truth!! The only downside was the narrator; the voice was a little hard to listen to.

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

New perspective
Revisado: 06-13-23
Kristen has done it again. Another wonderful story that draws you in and captures you. I felt myself being drawn in by the characters, and cheering them on. My only complaint is the narrator for Emerson, I found her voice annoying.

Historia
The Frosts are a typical American family. Barb and John, married almost 50 years, are testy and bored with each other...who could blame them after all this time? At least they have their daughters - Barb's favorite, the perfect, brilliant Juliet; and John's darling, the free-spirited Sadie. The girls themselves couldn't be more different, but at least they got along, more or less. It was fine. It was enough. Until the day John had a stroke, and their house of cards came tumbling down. Now Sadie has to put her career as a teacher and struggling artist in New York on hold....

Another hit!
Revisado: 06-05-23
I’ve listening to a few Kristen Higgins books; she has a way of drawing you into the story in a magical way. I love the different points of view given through the characters giving the chapters it gives the story multifaceted points of view. I have found some of Kristen’s women on the “weak” side; not so much so in this book although there are a handful of moments - but there’s truth in that. We cannot be strong all the time; it’s ok to falter & not always be at our best. I couldn’t put this book down ❤️

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

Loved this book! Couldn’t put it down.
Revisado: 05-26-23
I’ve never finished a book so fast, but this story just really drew me in. Thank you Kristen for giving a voice to those of us weren’t the popular kids in school. Also, acknowledging the pain & anguish to those of us who have been assaulted, and the fear that follows. Yes it was painful to hear the details but I appreciated it, it gives people a chance to understand what someone a victim goes through. This book wasn’t all sunshine and roses, but it felt so real! My heart hurt for Nora yet it was such a joy to watch her really find herself. 🥰

Easy listening
Revisado: 05-20-23
The story is good butt not fantastic. I enjoyed the characters and performances so much I listened to all three. In someways the main character was pompous, yet she always seemed to get herself into bad situations through the typical “dumb girl horror movie way”. I don’t normally read mysteries but found this series easy to fly through.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 04-19-23
I passed by this title a couple of times based on the book cover; I thought it was going to be about a ditzy pretty blonde girl - but i finally looked over a few reviews & decided to give it a chance & I’m happy to say my original prejudgment was so wrong! I loved this book & couldn’t put it down. I love these characters, Elizabeth Zott, Mad, 6:30, Harriet, and Calvin. The relationship between Calvin and Elizabeth was something different, so special! This book was refreshing. Read it you won’t regret it.

Puzzled
Revisado: 12-17-22
I loved the first and second books of the series; this one however took a turn into fantasy. The writing was long-winded, and repetitive. Which I anticipated from other reviewers, but I had to know how it ended. This last book has left an odd uneasy, unsettling feeling. Nice to see May get a happy ending, or at least I hope so. I appreciate the author giving attention to how many Native America women go missing every year. This last book buttons up some ends in a very imaginative way.

Revisado: 11-13-22
This story seems believable yet totally unbelievable at the same time. The story was colorful and told in a way you could sense the scenery around May. Very much worth a listen. Be prepared for your heart to ache for the suffrage of the Native American people.
