Historia
The beautiful young woman is perfectly still, curled up in the trunk of the car, her long dark hair hiding her face. Her cotton blouse has ridden up a little, revealing two small dots an inch apart on her back. Just like the others. Guilt has kept FBI Agent Tori Hunter away from her home in Manchester Bay, Minnesota for 20 years, ever since her twin sister disappeared on the Fourth of July, when the girls should have been together. But when she receives an anonymous newspaper clipping about another missing girl, Genevieve, Tori is dragged back to the past.

Great characters with great character development. The series itself is intriguing and so full of twists. I love the format as things are revealed. These books will definitely keep you guessing.

Cool twist
Revisado: 12-01-24
I didn’t enjoy the narrator so the story started out shaky for me. The first chapter seemed long and cumbersome. The best part of this book is that I couldn’t figure out what exactly was happening. I love when an author puts a spin that I haven’t sniffed out ahead of time. Overall, good read.

The writing is immaculate. The audiobook has a smooth and comforting narration. The book overall is very good. The author has the ability to make you feel like you are right there. Unfortunately, a lot of this book is sad. You will feel it when you read it.

Historia
When crime reporter Jordan Manning leaves her hometown in Texas to take a job at a television station in Chicago, she’s one step closer to her dream: a coveted anchor chair on a national network. Jordan is smart and aggressive, with unabashed star-power, and often the only woman of color in the newsroom. Her signature? Arriving first on the scene—in impractical designer stilettos. Armed with a master’s degree in forensic science and impeccable instincts, Jordan has been able to balance her dueling motivations: breaking every big story—and giving a voice to the voiceless.

Unnecessary details

I wanted to like this book. The narrator was great, the story line was ok. The problem is that it is written like a script to a tv show. It just didn’t land well with me or my book club.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was interesting and the twists and turns were intriguing. The only problem that I had was the narrator. It was a struggle listening to her.

I don’t usually consider this type of book. One of the participants in our book club picked it and I actually enjoyed it! The writer is very descriptive and allows you to “see” the characters. Very good writing and the narrator is fabulous.

Read this book as a part of a book club. Stopping each week to discuss became a chore because that meant I had to stop reading at a pre appointed chapter…I found myself just wanting to keep reading. The book just had such a wonderful flow and a great story line. I was all in! I think you will enjoy this book. Definitely one to keep in the library.
