Historia
Nikolai doesn’t want much out of life: sex, immortality, and the power to disembowel anyone who crosses him. But with dark magic forbidden, his only option is Medea–a mage so deadly even the Enforcers give her a wide berth. Despite dire warnings that her apprentices don’t survive, Nikolai won’t stop until she agrees to train him. After all, he’s a killer himself.

Good Plot - Rushed Character Dev
Revisado: 09-06-24
The setting and plot are interesting. Exceptional example of “show don’t tell”. The character development kept breaking my suspension of disbelief. Nikolai is a textbook portrayal in narcissism. He’s supposed to be smart, but is incredibly stupid. After being told an obvious solution to his problem he acts like the same person is keeping secrets. He’s a narcissist who doesn’t even believe his own eyes. Madea is confusing and inconsistent. She’s supposed to be a genius and meticulous, but struggles with linear thinking and forming a logical argument. She’s centuries old with a profound understanding of human anatomy, but turns naive at the sight of someone she considers inferior nearly naked, as if she has never seen an anatomy textbook. She’s dispassionate from being old, but is highly reactive and has little control over her own thoughts.

Historia
This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

Revisado: 07-09-21
This book was super practical, enlightening, and genuinely useful. I couldn’t stop taking notes. The concepts and anecdotes used in this book were very helpful in making the ideas concrete and will absolutely help me turn insight into action. The narrator was also super engaging. I would recommend this book to liters of all levels.

Confusing and One Dimensional
Revisado: 10-31-17
I love The League series, but this book feels lazy. I struggling to force myself to finish this story so I'm ready for the next. The Bastien book lacks in plot and character development. The writing it good, but the plot is void any kind of originality and depth. The main character is an amorphous amalgamation of character traits from all the other characters and makes terrible decisions without credible reasoning. You never really get to learn who Bastien is aside from being a character clone of other characters, a charming and handsome prince who is misunderstood and lied about. Sounds like Dancer and Darling. There are many contradictions in the relationship dynamics and many plot jumps without a curtesy of an amount of time.
