Historia
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true.... While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war.

Like fanfiction from the writer's room
Revisado: 02-14-20
It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good. The story overall is solid. It drags a bit at times, but not much and not for long. Some of the references to the show feel a little shoehorned, but others feel natural. The dialogue for each character feels right on the money for the most part, with a few deviations. You can tell the author is a Browncoat and loves the show as much as the rest of us. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The narration is fantastic. The narrator nails Malcolm Reynolds and mimics the intonations of the rest of the crew surprisingly well. The narrator is either a Browncoat himself, or knew the importance of the characters and did his homework. Either way, he pulls it the hell off.
I highly recommend it to any Firefly fan or fans of scifi western.

Man meets girl, man has sex with girl, repeat.
Revisado: 02-13-20
A lazy, uninspired story built around the protagonist meeting a woman, adding her to his harem, and moving on to find the next. Boring and repetitive.

Reads like a teenager's sex fantasy
Revisado: 02-13-20
The story isn't bad, but gets bogged down by explicit sex scenes that seem to get more graphic and less imaginative as the story and series progresses. Everything by this author feels to me like a masturbation fantasy by the author. It could be a decent series with the long, boring sex scenes edited out. It starts to feel like the story is an afterthought to the sex scenes.

Calling himself Jack Thorn, he chooses an undead race, Deathlord. One of the better LitRPGs
Revisado: 12-19-18
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've listened to a lot of LitRPGs and this is one of the better constructed ones. The main character is a very interesting take on a protagonist. He's not noble, but he's honorable; he's not a nice guy, but you still find yourself rooting for his every move. He's a very interesting "gray area" type of protagonist that is challenging to pull off in a convincing way, but Castle manages to do it.
The only complaint I have, minor as it may be, is the way the MC's stats are listed at the end of every chapter. This is easy enough to get around by simply skipping to the next chapter when the listing starts.
Jeff Hays does a phenomenal job at narration, as he always does. I rarely lost track of who was speaking and almost never got confused about the story. The few times I did, it was due more to an outside distraction rather than a failure on the part of the narrator.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to any LitRPG fans. This is one I'll probably be coming back to multiple times.

David Wong Does It Again
Revisado: 10-10-15
When I found out this wasn't a continuation of the David and John saga, I was slightly disappointed. This disappointment turned out to be unjustified. David Wong is great at weaving ridiculousness and humor throughout his stories. I would like to formally apologize for doubting him. The story was good, full of heartfelt moments, serious introspection into human nature, and Wong's trademark hilarity. The narrator did a great job of giving each character not just a voice, but a cadence and speech pattern that perfectly matched their personalities. Overall, it was a great experience that will make David Wong fans feel at home as well as appealing to fans of sci-fi and crime dramas. I highly recommend this title.

Historia
For the first time, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor speaks directly to his fans and shares his worldview about life as a sinner. And Taylor knows how to sin. As a small-town hero in the early '90s, he threw himself into a fierce-drinking, drug-abusing, hard-loving, live-for-the-moment life. Soon Taylor's music exploded, and he found himself rich, wanted, and on the road. His new and ever-more-extreme lifestyle had an unexpected effect, however; for the first time, he began to actively think about what it meant to sin.

Corey Taylor at His Best
Revisado: 03-05-14
If you could sum up Seven Deadly Sins in three words, what would they be?
Corey. Fucking. Taylor.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Corey opens up about his personal life, especially his younger years, throughout the book. Some moments are full of anger, while others are told in such a detached, apathetic manner that the reader is forced to assume that Corey has to detach himself or risk falling apart.
Any additional comments?
Corey Taylor's first book is amazing. He expertly sets up each "sin" for debate and delves into human nature to show that these "sins" are exactly that: human nature. Corey is a true talent using humor, anecdotes from his life, and the occasional f-bomb to get his point across. Whether the reader agrees with his views or not, they are laid out in such a way that the reader has to at least consider the author's point of view before choosing to embrace or reject the message.

In this book, Corey Taylor undertakes something never before attempted in the history of rock superstardom: he takes you with him as he journeys undercover through various ghostbusting groups who do their best to gather information and evidence about the existence of spirits. Taylor also gives you a behind-the-scenes tour of his crazy life and the many beyond-the-grave events he's encountered. (You'll be shocked how often Slipknot has been invaded by the supernatural).

Corey Taylor is a Genius
Revisado: 03-05-14
Any additional comments?
Admittedly, I am a huge Corey Taylor fan, so this review may be a bit biased. I love Corey's writing style. It's brutally honest, funny, insightful, and doesn't give a shit what you think about it. He doesn't pull punches or shy away from the offensive, but comes at the reader with both barrels blasting, leaving the reader to either absorb the message or get the hell out of the way. Overall, an amazing story, read by the author in a voice that is all his own.

Great horror/comedy/action
Revisado: 03-05-14
Would you listen to Monster Hunter International again? Why?
Yes. The story is so well written and performed.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Owen Pitt. He's not your typical action hero type guy. He's full of faults and mistakes and failings, but he has a quality that makes the reader instantly like him and want to see him succeed.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I bought this audio book because it was on sale and looked interesting. I didn't realize at the time that it would become one of my favorite book series. Larry Correia mixes humor and horror and action in a very interesting way. One second I was laughing hysterically, the next I was cursing one of the characters, and the next I was terrified as to what would happen next. Also Mr. Correia's knowledge and realistic depiction of firearms is refreshing in an age when some writers phone those details in. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book and the others in the series. I eagerly await the next installment and highly recommend this book to fans of horror/comedy/action books.

A beautiful story
Revisado: 03-05-14
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The last chapter gave me chills and gave me a lump in my throat. Laugh out loud moments are sprinkled throughout the book.
Any additional comments?
This is an extremely beautiful story about a man not only searching for the internet, but also himself and his purpose in life. Wayne Gladstone does an amazing job of painting a picture of a man who has lost everything, and goes on a mission to reclaim what was lost. Paul Michael Garcia does a wonderful job of making the characters and the punch lines come alive without sacrificing the emotion and the heart of the book.
