Connective and meaningful story telling
Revisado: 04-17-25
Elisa shared her story with great vulnerability and truth. What a healing journey. As a mom myself, I can relate to so much of her process and wanting to share the trials and lessons of life as encouragement for our next generation.

Great motivator.
Revisado: 01-14-19
Jen is a wonderful inspiration. I love her books and her outlook. I do recommend buying paperback as well so that you can make notes and reflect back on the education when it’s time to really out things in motion. I believe that is the best to get the most out of this book. I will however listen again and again.

Historia
"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

I’m listing again right now!
Revisado: 10-22-18
Brené took the temperature of our country and her advice on how to connect is spot on. I knew before I was through that I would be listening again right away. It’s too good to miss any of the point so I’m listing a second time to really let it soak in and put this to practice.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

What did you love best about Hillbilly Elegy?
Great insight to an American sub culture that is not widely seen or understood but often judges and criticized. The author shared the good and ugly of his own experience in an open, honest format to help himself and others better understand how to raise up from the preset notions of where one is raised.
