not always easy to hear and empathise with, I think this is a side to school mass shootings we all need to listen to. hating the families of the killers does not help to prevent future tragedies. raw, emotional and real this book with make you question yourself and your ideas.

Historia
A psychologist in suburban Cleveland, Dustin is drifting through his forties when he hears the news: His adopted brother, Rusty, is being released from prison. Thirty years ago, Rusty received a life sentence for the massacre of Dustin’s parents, aunt, and uncle. The trial came to epitomize the 1980s hysteria over Satanic cults; despite the lack of physical evidence, the jury believed the outlandish accusations Dustin and his cousin made against Rusty. Now, after DNA analysis has overturned the conviction, Dustin braces for a reckoning.

perfect voice for a thrilling tale
Revisado: 08-31-17
Where does The Memory of Water rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Right up there with the best of them
Who was your favorite character and why?
Slade, the anti-hero. He is conflicted and screwed up but very believable as a human. He is all of us but for a few decisions.
Which character – as performed by J. Austin Moran II – was your favorite?
Slade - Moran brings this complex character to life. It felt like Moran was telling us his own story, in the third person.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
[spoiler] I found Slade's confusion at Eve's death very moving in the audio version of the book after hardly noticing it in the written version. Kudos to Moran for that.
Any additional comments?
Moran has a wonderful voice that lulls you into a false sense of security, making the confusion and emotional violence of this book even more powerful. A winning combination. I even got to not mind his weird pronunciation of some South African words. Like forgiving Slade for his incredibly poor decisions, so I felt able to forgive Moran for some odd-sounding words.
