If you want a rare collection of war stories this is your book.

Extremely well read by the author. The guy has a voice for radio. The author recalls his time fighting for our country in the Middle East and risking his life for an American hostage in Africa with enough detail to occasionally bring you along with him. Regarding the other reviewers commenting on the religious parts of the book…they are certainly abundant in the reading however, not distracting enough to warn you off the book. The author is obviously in the top 1% of the 1% of operators out there. His religious beliefs are also obviously a large part of how he continues to function. Even if you’re not religious, like myself, I think we owe it to the author to realize that his religion is a large part of the warrior he is. If you’re looking for a collection of warrior stories this volume and maybe Robert O’Niel’s are as good as it gets. This reading gets a high recommendation. Enjoy!

Truly Amazing

Perhaps just a little slow getting going but then launches into a most incredible story of extreme human endurance. Shackleton and his men were strong beyond belief to have survived the ordeal physically and even more so mentally. Great book!

Profoundly incredible collection of war stories.

O’Neill accounts his stories in this audiobook in a way that really puts you right there. It’s an on the edge of your seat ride from cover to cover. The Operator is an unique audiobook for me as I’ve never purchased one that was read by the author. O’Neill brings you in to his world and you are involved in the emotions that he is going through chapter to chapter. Frankly, this is the best audiobook I’ve ever purchased and I think I’m going to start it from the beginning again tomorrow morning. The book is motivating, illuminating and at times laugh out loud hilarious. O’Neill pours out his heart and soul into the book and at the end you feel like you’ve found a friend that you’d really just like to drink a beer with.
