Listening to Britney’s story in her own words is so eye opening and inspiring. Cliche, I know, but it’s true. From what I’ve seen, Britney has always been a great writer. From the songs she wrote to her old website, this book is no different. Michelle Williams as the narrator was a great choice. Her voice is so soothing and she conveyed Britney’s voice so well. I highly recommend this book, it’s not just for Britney fans.

Funny, engaging, and at times truly heartbreaking. Hah and when they mentioned Waukesha, WI (I grew up 5 minutes from there), I said “uh oh…” I have no doubt there were indeed some raggedy a*s b*tches at that church…

A real perspective of the damage purity culture can cause

I love this book. Brenda is a natural storyteller. I’ve been an atheist for as long as I can remember, but I still enjoy hearing other people’s perspectives. Even though I wasn’t raised with religious purity messages, I definitely noticed some of the secular messages that are similar. This book makes me wonder just how many people have had similar experiences and all because of “purity.”

The only thing I didn’t like was that Mae Whitman’s and Bryce Dallas Howard’s voices were too similar. They both have beautiful voices, but it took me a while to realize that different people were reading the two younger characters. Other than that, I really enjoyed the book. I’ve only recently read the first book and caught up on the show for season 4, but it was still nice to have a conclusion for the unanswered questions of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Read the book, there’s a lot missing in the audio.

I read this book years ago and loved it. I really wasn’t expecting so much of the book to be cut out. Had I not known there were large parts missing, I’d think the book stopped making sense towards the end. There is a lot more of the Josie/Meredith storyline and without it, the audio version just isn’t very good.

I loved this book. I’m a huge Chuck Palahniuk fan, he’s one of my favorite authors. He never fails with a bizarre, messed up story line with a splash of social commentary. It felt like his own unique take on a YA novel. The Damned/Doomed books are my favorite of his. Highly recommend.
