This was not the book that was promised. I was looking for an unbiased piece focusing on the lives of regular people using primary documents. What I got was political theorizing about oppression and interactions among races and classes. More politics than history.

It's ok but a bit corny

I like where the book comes from and agree with many of her points. Unfortunately, it feels like it provides only a handful of interesting content which it stretches out to cover the entire book using not so funny puns and gimmicky entertainments. it doesn't help that the voice performance itself isn't the greatest, switching between wacky to represent the author and an over stuffy parody of authoritative voice to represent direct quotes from source material.

Entertaining and somewhat useful

It turned out to be about 20% asset allocation through times of strife and 80% world war 2 vingets, but did both jobs well. useful in terms of asset allocation and interesting in terms of war stories.

Politically Honest

Today's partisan climate makes it exceedingly difficult for those in office to pursue ideals that are above politics. By it's very nature, walking a middle path means you will have enemies to either side and no one has your back. I hope this book serves as inspiration for people to look beyond the black and white of left and right and follow the ideals they hold in esteem, regardless of which side of the political divide they fall.

Surprisingly Useful

This book is one of those which I think almost all people should read and yet most likely won't based on its title. Rather than expounding on some esoteric mathematical concepts as you might expect, it becomes immediately applicable to the many subtle calculations we make in our daily lives. The results, some surprising, some intuitive help us better consider the way we navigate our day to day decisions.

Amazing book. Balanced and thorough.

The book was impressive both for its enlightened ability to cast debates from multiple angles and for the rigorous detail of the evidence from which it casts it's arguments. sheds light in many modern debates, scientific, political and philosophical.
