Historia
Gorm Ingerson knows the king is a fink. With the land’s insidious ruler hell-bent on his destruction, the axe-wielding Dwarf berserker is desperate to beat him to the punch. But when he discovers the rotten regent’s claim of a town razed by the world’s richest dragon is false, the gruff adventurer fears there’s more than a personal grudge at stake.

A good, if long, finish to the trilogy.
Revisado: 04-06-24
Ok, let’s get the bad out of the way.
1. Rather heavy-handed on the real world politics of perceived racism.
2. After a tight and concise previous two books, this book took a more meandering path to conclusion. It worked hard to plunk in point number one.
3. It took a bit for Mr. Tisdale to get into his voices again. Having re-listened to books one and two just before starting this book, it was a jerk out of the world to hear the voices I was so used to for various characters not sounding quite the same. Although by 1/2 way through the book we were in the swing of things again.
The good.
1. Satisfying conclusions to all story arcs.
2. Villains were given good send-offs commensurate with their level of dastardly deeds.
3. The Heroes also received their just desserts. Although, I would have liked to have had a bit more on Mrs. Hurk and her pups. Food for a short story, I suppose.
3. It did do a fantastic job of tying all of the characters into a cohesive story, and narrative as to why they all held importance in the final act.
Well done overall. But, as a point, try not to use a cudgel when driving home, “The Message.” Don’t assume your audience is so obtuse as it can’t read between the lines. It does detract from an otherwise brilliant story.

Historia
The American 345th Bomb Group - the Air Apaches - was legendary in the war against Japan. The first fully trained and fully equipped group sent to the South Pacific, the 345th racked up a devastating score against the enemy. Armed to the teeth with machine guns and fragmentation bombs, and flying their B-25s at impossibly low altitudes - often below 50 feet - the pilots and air crews strafed and bombed enemy installations and shipping with a fury that helped cripple Japan.

A review of heroes
Revisado: 05-04-23
This is an amazing book that tells the story of the famed Air Apaches of the USAAF in World War II. Suffice it to say you become terribly engrossed in the story and the men depicted herein.
It is wonderful. Get it and rejoice such men loved their country enough to do what they did.
Cheers and thanks for reading

Historia
For generations, nobles have gathered at a scenic estate once per year to compete. What transpires there is spoken of only in rumors, save for the prizes. Potent, powerful, and precious; the winners are said to receive a gift from magic itself. Reeling after their loss to Kalzidar, the adventurers from Maplebark can only press forward, following advice imparted by the gods. Their divine directions will lead them on a series of twisting paths, branching between old friends and new challenges, before ultimately pointing at a particular estate on a specific evening.

A fantastic story that further alongs the story of the NPCs and as a B story, continues the story of their human gaming kin with some new people thrown in and more of backstory revealed.
Well worth the wait although the next one will be too long in coming as the A story is coming to a head
Thistle and crew are a fantastic group of characters.

A fantastic follow-up
Revisado: 01-28-23
Truly the height of Superpower stories. Hayes gives a superb story with enough twists and tricks to keep the pages or minutes listening going. My only complaint is the Vince character is a bit… one dimensional. While the rest of the characters grow, Vince keeps tripping over his goodie-2-shoes persona. That said. It’s a minor gripe. Read it now now now!

Renowned historian Antony Beevor, the man who "single-handedly transformed the reputation of military history" (The Guardian) presents the first major account in more than 20 years of the Normandy invasion and the liberation of Paris. This is the first book to describe not only the experiences of the American, British, Canadian, and German soldiers, but also the terrible suffering of the French caught up in the fighting.

Historia
Who wants to be a superhero? Hope did, but she grew out of it. Which made her superhuman breakthrough in the Ashland Bombing, just before starting her freshman year at the University of Chicago, more than a little ironic. And now she has some decisions to make. Given the code-name "Astra" and invited to join the Sentinels, Chicago's premier super-team, will she take up the cape and mask and become a career superhero? Or will she get a handle on her new powers (superstrength has some serious drawbacks) and then get on with her life plan?

A bit of a jarring narration, a fantastic book!!
Revisado: 07-12-22
Greetings all:
This audiobook is a companion to an excellent book. I understand that narrator is an author and quite a good one. But, she reads with extreme dictation which sounds very stilted.
That said. This book, aside from Drew Hayes’ Superpowereds series and Villain’s Code series is one of the most intelligently written Superhero series out there. You would do well to read or listen to them. Trust me, you will love how well-rounded their universes are. If you are tired of “The Message” being pushed by Marvel and DC, give these series a try!

Members of the military’s special operations branches share a closely guarded secret: They love their jobs. They relish the opportunity to fight. They are thankful for it, even, and hopeful that maybe they’ll get to kill a bunch of bad guys while they’re at it. You don’t necessarily need to thank them for their service - the pleasure is all theirs. In this hilarious and personal memoir, listeners ride shotgun alongside former Army Ranger and private military contractor and current social media phenomenon Mat Best, into the action and its aftermath, both abroad and at home.

Revisado: 01-05-21
I am a BRCC fanatic and veteran. So take this with a grain of coffee.
The book was interesting and not my normal listen. But, I find Mat Best entertaining and therefore took a chance. It was worth it.
Be warned this book is NSFW on steroids. But that said, you can tell Best put his heart and soul into the writing.
A good performance by Best in the reading also, but nothing less was expected.

A fascinating story of men
Revisado: 11-26-20
When we look back at World War II, we read of plans, equipment and strategy. But without men of valor, the rest is just stuff. This is a story of men doing their job and saving lives in the process.

Historia
Called "the preeminent survey of American military history" by Russell F. Weigley, America's foremost military historian, For the Common Defense is an essential contribution to the field of military history. This third edition provides the most complete and current history of United States defense policy and military institutions and the conduct of America's wars. Without diminishing the value of its earlier editions, authors Allan R. Millett, Peter Maslowski, and William B. Feis provide a fresh perspective on the continuing issues that characterize national security policy.
