Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Powerful
Revisado: 03-27-24
A moving, powerful story and exactly what a retelling should be. From the narration to the pace of the story, everything about this book exceeded my expectations.

Historia
Her name is Binti, and she is the first of the Himba people ever to be offered a place at Oomza University, the finest institution of higher learning in the galaxy. But to accept the offer will mean giving up her place in her family to travel between the stars among strangers who do not share her ways or respect her customs. Knowledge comes at a cost, one that Binti is willing to pay, but her journey will not be easy. The world she seeks to enter has long warred with the Meduse, an alien race that has become the stuff of nightmares.

A standout
Revisado: 03-05-24
A quick and easy to understand story of a young woman trying to be who she is while still staying loyal and true to her people. It’s a story of how to use your gifts and exercise empathy and the challenge of doing that in the face of peoples who are telling you they have no interest in either. Bravo to the writer and narrator! On to Book Two!

My Favorite Stoker Story
Revisado: 02-02-24
Wasn’t expecting this - definitely wasn’t ready for it - but this was my favorite story she’s ever written. Things tend to be predictable, but not in this story! I was so appreciative of that. Didn’t expect those twists. I think that’s why this is my favorite Stoker series.

At just 10 years old, Tommy has already been through more horror than most people suffer in their entire lives. He’s scared, confused, angry...and convinced it won’t be long before these new foster parents send him away, too. No one wants a boy his age, especially one who’s broken, dirty. Don’t waste a credit
Revisado: 08-23-23
Was this a children’s story? Was this a children’s story for adults? This was so beyond bizarre and could have been so much better. Telling this story from the perspective of children and then ending with an erotic scene?! Are you insane?? This was beyond offensive and I hope I get my credit back.

Historia
Sarah Butler isn’t flattered. She’s angry and unnerved. She’s been getting intimate gifts from a man she barely knows. Nothing threatening yet, but there’s just a weird vibe she can’t ignore. Her recourse is Ace Security. Their solution: self-defense lessons at Rock Hard Gym with a personal, hands-on instructor. One look at the bearded, tattooed, green-eyed alpha is enough to take Sarah’s breath away.

Wtf is this book?!
Revisado: 07-05-23
Stoker should be relieved this wasn’t the first series I read of hers because if it was, I would never read a single thing she ever wrote again. The dialogue is, for lack of a better word, DUMB. The characters are completely unsympathetic. There is nothing appealing about the story whatsoever. She writes far better series than this. I will never get this time or these Audible credits back. Don’t waste yours.

Historia
Nothing is more important to Blake Anderson than the work he does with his brothers at Ace Security. At least that's what he thinks until he meets the fiercely independent Alexis Grant. The security firm's new intern pushes all his buttons—and makes his temperature rise. But giving in to temptation might be risky business. Alexis can tell that Blake has his doubts about her ability to commit. But while most people look at her and see only a flighty rich girl, she knows he sees much more.

The WORST.
Revisado: 06-05-23
It is taking me the longest time to get through this series, but this book in particular. The characters are horrible, and the story makes no sense. The entire storyline made me roll my eyes. I still have an hour and a half off narration to go.
Speaking of, why do both the male and female characters sound the same?
If I read this series first, I never would have read any of Stokers’s books, and that’s saying something.
