Just Not Good

Slow plotting, too many unnecessary characters, no real story and no interesting occurrences. Don’t waste your money or credits.

Over-acted and grating
Revisado: 11-25-24
This had potential, but it’s so over-acted and that, combined with the extremely poor sound design, was grating and annoying.

Historia
After her mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Billie Levine revamped her grandfather’s private investigation firm and set up shop in the corner booth of her favorite North Jersey deli hoping the free pickles and flexible hours would allow her to take care of her mom and pay the bills. So when Tommy Russo, a rich kid with a nasty drug habit, offers her a stack of cash to find his missing girlfriend, how can she refuse? At first, Billie thinks this will be easy earnings, but then her missing person's case turns into a murder investigation and Russo is the detective bureau’s number one suspect.

Atrocious Narrator
Revisado: 02-23-23
This is a long winded book full of unnecessary detail and banal dialogue, but the cherry on top is the awful narrator. If you like faux Jersey accents and literally every character sounding exactly the same, this is the audiobook for you.

How can Anna Ellis, a geeky, brilliant, and hopelessly smitten cosmetic chemist possibly win over Craig Kimball, the man of her dreams—who also happens to be her boss? The answer is Craig’s empathetic (and handsome) CEO half brother, Marco. The makeup mogul knows Craig for the ridiculously competitive rival he is. Whatever Marco has, Craig wants. That can be Anna, if she’s game to play. All Anna and Marco have to do is pretend they’re falling in love and let the rumors begin.

Worst Narrator Ever
Revisado: 02-05-23
This narrator is unforgivably bad and makes the entire book unreadable. The cadence, the annunciation, the entire performance is cringeworthy. Don’t spend a credit on this trash heap.

Historia
A distress call draws rescuers Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit to a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale that’s sinking from a mysterious explosion. When it appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist and other ships are threatened, it becomes a race against time. More clues are discovered, and evidence is in danger of being washed away by a coming tropical storm. Sloan grows concerned that key details are being ignored, and a strange lack of urgency by authorities sets off alarms.

An interesting and fast paced story kneecapped by the narrator’s terrible performance. She may as well have been reading a math textbook.

Very Poor Choice of Narrator
Revisado: 01-31-22
The protagonist/narrator in this novel is American, but the actual voice actor who narrates this book is British and does a very bad American accent (when she even remembers to do one). Aside from the poor narration, this barely qualifies as a mystery since it just revolves around the day to day lives of the characters in the story. Boring and bland.
