Historia
Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status...and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader.

This book really captures the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in a nutshell. Before this book, I had so many misconceptions of life for Palestinians. Highly recommended for anyone trying to navigate the history behind the Oct 7 massacre and ongoing war.

good from time to time

decent book but there's way too many accounts of his personal feelings about people and their dreams therein. I would have preferred more of the case studies on different agents he worked with or missions he did, etc.

Historia
A top-secret US Army Special Operations unit has been running covert missions all over the world, from leading death squads to the hideout of drug baron Pablo Escobar to capturing Saddam Hussein and, in one of the greatest special operations missions of all time, helping to track down al-Qa'eda leader Osama bin Laden. "The Activity," as it became known to insiders, has achieved near-mythical status, even among the world's Special Operations elite.

one of the best jsoc histories out there
Revisado: 06-16-22
I loved the book. Along with Relentless Strike, this is one of the best histories of jsoc that exists. Although o feel like it skewed more toward overall jsoc instead of the Activity about halfway through the book (whereas I was looking to hear only about the Activity), it's still a great book. Highly recommended.

I loved this book. I've listened/read just about every cia/ jsoc book that's out there and this is one of my favorites. very similar to Hank Crumpton's at art of intelligence, it's a raw gritty story of American triumph.

Burnt Out Experience
Revisado: 07-06-20
As someone who works in the IC, I feel like this book does a good job at portraying the hard work involved with the type of work we often do. However, I do feel like the author goes a little overboard with her view of how bad life is in the IC. I mean really.... it's not that bad. She complaints are mundane and fall on deaf ears of those who have done much harder time in service of their country. Overall a decent book though. The performance legitimacy was skewed a little at her pronouncing of acronyms that people in the community just say a one word. Especially annoying was her "S.O.F.".... we just say "sauf" when referring to SOF or Special Operations Forces.
