Historia
Welcome to Alderley, a magnificent mansion in the heart of the West Country where a grand house party is taking place. The preparations have been made, the guests have been invited, and the staff are on hand. What could possibly go wrong? Let the entertainment begin. The theft of the diamond necklace and the antique pistols might all be explained, but the body in the lake - that really was a puzzle. 'Don't expect me to solve anything,' Inspector Wilkens announced modestly when he arrived to sort out the unpleasantness.

Rambles on and on and on…
Revisado: 01-29-25
The beginning was great, interesting characters and plot but it dragged on before anything happened. Then the reveal at the end went on and on… and on! Boring explanation of every single detail going over the same things by each characters view. Didn’t bother to finish it, just don’t care who did it!

In The Case of the Case of Kilcladdich, golden-age gadabout Anty Boisjoly travels to the timeless source waters of Glen Glennegie to help decide the fate of his family’s favourite ferment, but an impossible locked room murder is only one of a multitude of mysteries that try Anty’s wits and witticisms to their northern limit. Time trickles down on the traditional tipple as Anty unravels family feuds, ruptured romance, shepherdless sheep, and a series of suspiciously surfacing secrets to sort out who killed whom and how and why and who might be next to die.

Dull! Don’t bother.
Revisado: 07-26-24
I love this series, I’ve listened to all of them but this was so boring, I had to give up on it. It goes on and on and on in great detail about how to make whiskey, every little detail about the process. I kept waiting for the story to get going but it never did.

Revisado: 06-11-22
The characters, story line and dialogue are wonderfully entertaining. The narration is top-drawer, Elizabeth Knowelden is terrific! The teasing between the two main characters is endearing. I can’t wait for the next book so I can hear Lady Hardcastle and Miss Armstrong solve another murder.

Having inexplicably nabbed the duke of Kesgrave, 26-year-old spinster Beatrice Hyde-Clare is determined to marry him at once, and no amount of hand-wringing from anxious family members, worried friends, and well-meaning acquaintances will convince her to delay. Except, maybe, she is a little swayed by her uncle’s efforts to make amends for treating her with cold indifference during her childhood.

This is a great series, I've really enjoyed all the books. The heroine is very interesting and different from most books and the other characters are entertaining and really add to the story.

On a quest to distract her lifelong friend Jeremy from his recent heartbreak, Lady Emily organizes a holiday in Greece. As a lover of all things Greek, she quickly finds herself occupied with tours of ancient ruins, lively debates with Margaret, a devoted Latinist, and slightly more scandalous endeavors with her dashing husband, Colin Hargreaves. But the pleasantries are brought to an abrupt halt when a man long believed dead greets the party at their island villa. Lord Philip Ashton, Colin's childhood best friend and Emily's first husband, has returned.

Bogs down in details about Greek history
Revisado: 06-16-20
The Lady Emily Series is great and I've really enjoyed them but this book really dropped the ball. There was a fabulous opportunity to make this storyline really great but instead there are pages and pages of Greek history in between the action. I'm very disappointed and I don't think I'll read another Lady Emily story.

Historia
Lady Amanda Golightly of Belchester Towers is a person in complete contrast to the stereotypical image of her upper-class breeding. She is short, portly, and embarrassingly forthright. On a visit to a local nursing home, she unexpectedly discovers a long-lost friend, Hugo Cholmondley-Crichton-Crump - and stumbles upon a murder. The pair turn to sleuthing after Lady Amanda reports her appalling discovery to the local police inspector, who treats her as a silly old biddy with an overactive imagination.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 02-25-20
The Mrs. Polifax books are wonderful! The first eight are narrated by Barbara Rosenblat and she's amazing! The narration on this book is so bad I can't even finish the story. Having a man narrate Mrs. Polifax is a bad idea and this particular narrator is just awful! I would highly recommend this series but not this book which is number 10 in the series.

Problem number one: Bootsy Howard. Until Bootsy Howard shows up demanding a million dollars. Problem number two: Princess Smucker. What was marketing thinking when they booked the Southern Canine Association's annual dog show at the Bellissimo? And what was Davis thinking when she agreed to let a dog stay with her? For a week? In her home?

Revisado: 02-25-20
All of the Davis Way books are fabulous and funny, you can't help but love all the eccentric characters but this story is the best. With a crazy story and some new crazy characters (even a witch!) it's laugh out loud funny. If you're a fan of Janet Evanovich and her character Stephanie Plum you'll love Davis Way! I highly recommend it!
