Weak plot
Revisado: 07-07-24
Plot unbelievable. Too spent too much time while listening suspending my logical questioning of the story. Character development shallow. Not really for me.

Historia
On her sixtieth birthday, a woman commits suicide. When the case lands on Detective Carl Mørck’s desk, he can’t imagine what this has to do with Department Q, Copenhagen’s cold cases division since the cause of death seems to be clear. But his superior, Marcus Jacobsen, is convinced that this is not in fact a suicide, but a murder related to an unsolved case that has been plaguing him since 1988.

Historia
Ady Barkan loved taking afternoon runs on the California coast and holding his newborn son, Carl. But one day, he noticed a troubling weakness in his hand. At first, he brushed it off as carpal tunnel syndrome, but after a week of neurological exams and two MRIs, he learned the cause of the problem: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. At age 32, Ady was given just three to four years to live. Yet despite the devastating diagnosis, he refused to let his remaining days go to waste.

Eyes to the Wind is an incredible story that will leave you inspired, laughing, and crying. I’m so grateful to Ady for taking his precious time and attention to write this book.
The narration by Whitford is moving and powerful. Five stars to both the story and the narration.

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Political drivel
Revisado: 04-23-18
Would you try another book from Jack Carr and/or Ray Porter?
I was turned off by the outrageous political nature of this book. I'll never buy another book written by Jack Carr.
Ray Porter did a fine job of reading this book. I found his reading engaging.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jack Carr again?
Never. Not after this attempt at indoctrination.

Historia
Al Franken, Giant of the Senate is a book about an unlikely campaign that had an even more improbable ending: the closest outcome in history and an unprecedented eight-month recount saga, which is pretty funny in retrospect. It's a book about what happens when the nation's foremost progressive satirist gets a chance to serve in the United States Senate and, defying the low expectations of the pundit class, actually turns out to be good at it.

Great book
Revisado: 07-08-17
I love this book. Franker brings a unique level of transparency and insight to contemporary American politics and political process. It worth a read just for those insights.
But what I found most compelling was Franken's unvarnished self disclosure, his passion for serving, and his nearly unique ability to identify a lie and call it out as a lie.
Sure would be refreshing to have Franken be in the White House in 2021!

Whether you're a CEO, a parent, or merely a person who wants to make a difference, you probably wish you had more influence with the people in your life. But most of us stop trying to make change happen because we believe it is too difficult, if not impossible. We learn to cope rather than learning to influence. Influencer is a thought-provoking audiobook that combines the remarkable insights of behavioral scientists and business leaders with the astonishing stories of high-powered influencers from all walks of life.

Right-wing drivel
Revisado: 07-15-14
Would you try another book from Brad Thor and/or Armand Schultz?
I will never buy another book by Brad Thor. His dedication to the simple-minded right-wing notions of how the world works ruined this story for me. I couldn't finish it because I couldn't take the propaganda. If you love unsophisticated, foolish fiction in which the Tea Party mindset is always honorable and admirable, then you might enjoy this drivel. If not, I suggest you spend your money and time elsewhere. This was awful.
Would you ever listen to anything by Brad Thor again?
Never.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was not ready for all the propaganda or the shallowness with which Brad Thor addressed complex issues like torture or the role of government in a complex society.
