Historia
Almost every religion, spiritual practice, philosophy and person grapples with fear. The most repeated phrase in the Bible is “Be not afraid.” The ancient Greeks spoke of phobos, panic and terror. It is natural to feel fear, the Stoics believed, but it cannot rule you. Courage, then, is the ability to rise above fear, to do what’s right, to do what’s needed, to do what is true. And so it rests at the heart of the works of Marcus Aurelius, Aristotle, and CS Lewis, alongside temperance, justice, and wisdom.

A tool for life
Revisado: 10-30-22
I listened to the audio version while I read the physical copy to submerge myself into the stories. This book helped me find motivation, feel proud of myself, inspired me, and made me self evaluate. Sometimes we do things in this world and they go unnoticed and that’s okay, but in parts of this book I was reminded to give myself a Pat on the back for doing the right thing and for standing up for myself or others and other times I was reminded of times I didn’t do the right thing and how important it is to be able to admit that, learn from it, and move on. Ryan annoyed me a few times with comments, about covid vaccines, masks etc.. it was a little annoying because it seemed unnecessary and maybe a little bit of frustration Ryan was feeling and wanted to express. It’s great he expressed himself, but I think it might turn off some people as it did me briefly from fully embracing the material he writes about and that’s the problem. When I read those comments, I questioned the material I was reading. But in those moments and in writing this now, I realize how his comments made me dig deeper and think about things. So annoyance or not, is this a good thing or a bad thing? I think it’s a good thing.
Overall, I really enjoy Ryan Holidays writing and mindset. I hope he continues to express himself
Fully even though in this review i share annoyance with some of the things he says. It’s all from a place of love and misunderstanding.
Thanks for helping me find the tools I need to transform my life Ryan.
