Amazing!! Dragons, danger, and the Darcys!

OMG this trilogy just keeps getting better!! This is Book 2 of 3 and you definitely need to read Book 1 - Spellbound at Pemberley - first. Darcy departs for his mission to aid in an attempt on Napoleon while Elizabeth stays at Pemberley, expecting their 1st child. Darcy’s cousin Lady Frederica Fitzwilliam returns to keep Lizzy company.
Darcy’s mission goes horribly awry but he manages to escape with crucial information about Napoleon that he frantically sends to Elizabeth through their bond. Cerridwen, Elizabeth’s companion dragon, relates to Elizabeth that in her far sight visions they have to rescue Darcy from France or all she sees in fire, death and destruction. Despite her pregnancy Elizabeth makes her way to France to find him but the race is on as she must find him and they must return home before he is captured and before she has her baby.

The tension and drama in this is palpable with Darcy especially in mortal danger throughout. The narrators do a fantastic job of conveying the emotions of fear, hope, joy and love throughout. The author definitely has some twists and surprises in store.

Lizzy loves sketching characters- literally!

Elizabeth Bennet goes to live with her great aunt and uncle Olivia and Phillip Russell. She is raised as a Russell from twelve until twenty when she returns to visit her family at Longbourn. While living with the Russells Elizabeth becomes friends with Georgiana Darcy and meets her father George Darcy but never meets Georgiana’s brother Fitzwilliam. Elizabeth finally meets Darcy at the infamous Meryton assembly and delivers his idiotic remark. Elizabeth disdains his haughtiness and continues to try to figure Darcy out, repeatedly drawing pictures with captions of their encounters.

Dreams unite ODC

Story begins after the Netherfield Ball with Darcy in London and Elizabeth at Longbourn. Darcy and Elizabeth each have matching dreams of the proposal at Hunsford. These dreams continue for both guiding each to reevaluate their understanding of the other and themselves. When they meet again in reality at Rosings it is a different Elizabeth and Darcy - meeting one another with much less pride and prejudice.
ODC quickly find accord with each other but Mr. Bennet, Wickham, Caroline Bingley and Lady Catherine all add road blocks to their path.

Unique storyline and two of my favorite narrators - I thoroughly enjoyed this story!!

Likeable Crawfords!!

I did receive this book in exchange for an honest review. This was definitely an original storyline - Lizzy Bennet and Mary Crawford are similarly featured cousins. The cast of Mansfield Park meets the cast of Pride and Prejudice with the Crawfords being friends with Bingley and thus securing an invitation to Netherfield. The Bertrams move to the Meryton neighborhood as a result of Tom Bertram’s wastefulness. The Crawfords are still somewhat self-serving but do genuinely seem to care for the Bennet relations. The Bertrams are annoying and Edmund is a surprise but interesting as he’s actually awful in this!
Overall an excellent and unique story. The only reason not 5 stars on the performance was that this one is dialogue heavy between multiple characters which did occasionally require a rewind to verify which character was speaking.

One of the wildest Wickham schemes I’ve ever read!!

Wickham’s schemes in this one definitely are more outlandish than I’ve read/heard before but highly entertaining. Darcy asking for Lizzy’s help and ODC working together to figure out Lady Lavinia was sweet! I adore the proposal scene in this one (technically both although desiring to smack Mr. Collins was a strong reaction!)

Magic, familiars and ODC trying to save England

I loved this story!! Unique from others I’ve read and fantastically narrated!! My only complaint is that this is book 1 of a trilogy and now I have to wait for the others!! (Fortunately I saved this until shortly before book 2 is due out). Thanks to the author and narrators for this one (I can promise this will be one that gets a relisten regularly!)

Darcy’s protectiveness and care of Elizabeth is so sweet!

Short version After an attempted compromise by the Bingley’s during the Netherfield Ball which is witnessed by Elizabeth after Darcy has explained his dealings with Wickham, Darcy departs for London. But more nefarious deeds are afoot and Elizabeth is kidnapped and found in the boot of Darcy’s carriage the next day. Darcy along with Col. Fitzwilliam care for Elizabeth and once she’s alert work to figure out what happened and who’s behind it.
Another fantastic work by Melanie Rachel (honestly have loved every book of hers I’ve read or listened to) and Harry Frost and Elizabeth Grace are two of my favorite narrators individually so a book that combines them was even better.
Lady Matlock, Viscount Henry Milton (aka Colonel Fitzwilliam’s older brother) lends their assistance also. Love Lady Matlock and Lizzy’s time with the ladies (Lizzy poking fun at Darcy was entertaining) and Henry is hilariously insouciant (or is he?)
ODC of course triumph in the end but definitely tense moments with the baddies in this one!!!

Wonderful Anthology of different Elizabeth POVs

Enjoyed all the different tales of Elizabeth Bennet - some more than others. Narrator Elizabeth Grace is fantastic as always (love how well she does different voices and accents). Personal favorites among this bunch of tales were Love in the Limelight by Beau North (P&P set in the glamour of old school Hollywood), Resistive Currents by Karen M Cox (P&P with an engineering and college setting), and Something Like Regret by Elizabeth Adams (P&P where only Wickham flees Brighton so Lizzy does not leave Derbyshire and Darcy courts her while she’s there).

Love and esteem among the steam engines

Lizzy and Darcy meet after Jane and Bingley are engaged. Mr. Gardiner is a supplier of machinery for Bingley’s factory and Darcy has a penchant for anything mechanical. Unknown (at least at first) to Darcy and Bingley but Elizabeth Bennet also has a fascination with anything mechanical. Darcy and Lizzy have their usual misunderstandings before finally confessing feelings, falling in love over their mutual love of all things mechanical.
Short but sweet!

Snowy Rescue!!

Loved how tender Darcy is with Lizzy throughout this one! Finding her on the road, nearly frozen to death and ensuring she’s cared for. Wickham is particularly dastardly in this one!! Love how everything gets resolved. This is the first I’ve listened to this narrator and overall does well but the accents in a few spots were a bit off for me.
