Mixed bag - How did we get here?
Revisado: 04-20-25
Overall, an annoying start, an epic battle, and a WTF ending.
The annoying start, was an excellent showcase of Mr. McClain's vocal talents that just went on to long.
The Jim vs the Dark Lord showdown was one of the best, with the perfect ending twist...
But the closing hook left me strongly irritated. If I had to listed to 15 minutes of demon genitalia, then the closing should have had more of how and when...

Historia
In a world full of super powers, Felix had a pretty crappy one. After learning to harness his ability to modify any item he owns, he now runs a corporation that is rapidly expanding - Legion. After tangling with the local Heroes guild they’ve finally settled into a semblance of stability. Sounds great on paper. Run your company, make money, be your own boss, settle down. Except that with running a business, comes an inordinate amount of responsibilities. Like making sure everything keeps running and your people are paid.

Narrator change
Revisado: 02-06-24
This 2nd book is not narrated by Jeff Hayes and Nick leans heavily into the New England accents, muh.
Overall the story continued to expand into god like powers, minus the little bitty living space :).
We jumped from struggling to bring people back from the dead at the end of book 1 to zealots with god like powers and owing a supreme being favors. Not sure where this is going, it is not what I am looking for in a story line...

Good, but hard to listen to
Revisado: 09-07-23
Ok, the story was good, though slow to get up speed. There is a little more American slang than the previous books.
Performance, too many of the voices fell short and were lacking distinction. Jonathan is not bad, but his voice did not fit the character that the previous books brought to life.

"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Looks too good to be true, but it is Good
Revisado: 06-27-23
I hesitated diving into this series due to being burned so many times by extended length books, +20 hours, failing weave a story worthy of my time. Ok, the first couple of hours, Erin and Ryoka's story line really drove the desire for them to meet horrible ends. But hang in there, the story lines get better and better. I am now a big fan of the Wandering Inn series...

The story of what happened to Flashman, the caddish bully of Tom Brown's Schooldays, after he was expelled in drunken disgrace from Rugby school in the late 1830s. This is the first of George Macdonald Fraser's hilarious satires starring Harry Paget Flashman.

Showing it's age, definitely not PC
Revisado: 05-23-23
So, if you're politically correct sensitive this, Flashman is definitely not for you.
I am glad to see Audiobooks listing the Flashman Papers. Flashman is the king of self indulgence, poor choices with wicked karma. The series weaves Flashman into most of mid 1800's disasters, with him surviving due to his strong self preservation drive. The stories tend to be fairly true to what has been accepted, though we are talking sole survivor situations.
I enjoy this series, the history with the inside narration by Flashman has been enjoyable.

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Good idea / Bad idea, but Jim's having fun
Revisado: 05-23-23
I am so glad to see/hear Jim is still adding to the Dresden world and even better was to hear him having fun. I loved hearing this read by Jim, though his adaptation of Bob's voice came off, to me, as lower Detroit gangster.
The only ding is the price of a Novella, but the Audiobooks sale came through for me :)

Welcome back Larry, a MHI must read...
Revisado: 04-14-23
This book renewed my faith in Larry C . IMO the negative reviews are off base, though I listened to this after listening to the "Guardian". To my ears Oliver W.'s voice skills brought back the characters of the MHI team and the production quality was what I have come to expect from an audible book.
The story smoothly flows through the persona of the many of the MHI's crew and legends. The monsters are daunting and challenging. There is no cake walk with the monster encounters and allies have their own agenda. This is Larry C at his best story telling. Be warned, the story ends with "to be continued", but at an appropriate point. The surprise reveal at the end has me searching the wiki's for more insight.
A positive shout out to the Audible team for put "Guardian" and "Bloodlines" on sale together. I would not have added either of these at regular price and would have missed this great story...

A decent buy @5 USD
Revisado: 04-14-23
The narration dings are honest; the lack of voice accent acting is disappointing.
The story adds some background color to the MHI World and removed a fear that Management had been removed from the story line... Oh, and Grat isn't a total Richard.
Overall, my real disappointment is with the lack production professionalism ownership from Larry for this audio book. Luckily, Audio's sale included the next book in the series and Larry has redem himself.

Historia
Albert Jenkins never cared much for bureaucrats and politicians. So, when the Galactic Congress refuses to act on the illegal invasion of Earth by parasitic aliens, he does what any self-respecting vet would do - he steals a spaceship. But when AJ and a snarky pop culture-loving alien companion are pursued by space cops, he does the only rational thing he can come up with. He strategically crash-lands on a junkyard moon.

Not bad, just some annoyances
Revisado: 11-05-20
A pleasant listen, with the exception of a few themes.
The Good:
- Yes, yes I do look forward to reading next in the series.
- Love the cypher-genius dog, laughing every time he appears...
- Challenges and solutions are developed and no one char dominates the "good idea" fountain.
- The world continues to grow and there is the use of spear bears to advance the story. Being part of the resistance seems like a sure way to finding a violent ending.
My exceptions (truly mine):
- I walk away unsatisfied with the pay backs or at least compensation for the misery caused by the Kergles.
AJ and Darnell have blown through their life savings to save the planet. I understand AJ's sitting on a fortune, but the Kergles just left without consequences. Maybe this is a future plot point, but this bugged me, for this book.
- The Vietnam Vet card seems to be a too often. This may be because of being one and some old ghosts visiting as a result. I do see that AJ and Darnell's and the Doc's relationship are anchored to this experience.
- I was going to bash the plot point of the Galactic Congress and sapient , but since it is a plot point, it would just be a rant...

Worth the wait, worth the listen
Revisado: 05-11-20
So many more listeners would discover Murderbot's delightful saga, if the first 3 books were priced more on-line with their length. Otherwise, wait for the Xmas sale.
On with the review...
Murderbot (MB) is back and so is ART. The story does a lot of contemplation of emotional motivation. More of the background of MB's and ART's stories are revealed and a promise of more adventures with these two.
MB experiences are allowing showing his human side to show through. This is revealed, through his interactions with new team members and plot.
Excellent story and character development. I am eagerly awaiting the next saga...
