Tackling some of humanity’s oldest questions along with new quandaries only he could imagine, these stories will change the way you think, feel, and see the world. One of the best collection of stories I have read in almost all universes where I read. The book asks profound questions about time, consciousness, feelings and the nature of reality. Beautiful.

Historia
The critically acclaimed novelist and social critic Aldous Huxley, describes his personal experimentation with the drug mescaline and explores the nature of visionary experience. The title of this classic comes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell: "If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things through narrow chinks of his cavern."

The best information I have read so far on the effect of psychedelics on consciousness and what they could change in it. How they are related to rationality, emotionality and spirituality.

A wonderful collection of touching views on the world and how it can be described (or how it emerges?) by numbers. The whole is greater than its part, filrting this way with infinity... I learned many things in this book, and I felt as many.

Historia
"It doesn't take an Einstein to understand modern physics," says Professor Wolfson at the outset of these 24 lectures on what may be the most important subjects in the universe: relativity and quantum physics. Both have reputations for complexity. But the basic ideas behind them are, in fact, simple and comprehensible by anyone. These dynamic and illuminating lectures begin with a brief overview of theories of physical reality starting with Aristotle and culminating in Newtonian or "classical" physics.

An amazing dive into cosmology
Revisado: 08-27-19
The best thing about this book is the tangible passion of the author. It inject an energy that makes all those theories come to life in a genuinely exciting way.
I listened to the audio book, and some reference to visuals and equations are a bit harder to grasp, but it gave me the desire to dig deeper and take a look at the equations.
As stated by the author, high school level maths & physics are sufficient to understand everything from this lecture. And potentially everything about the universe?

Historia
Restricted Fantasies is a Black Mirror-style collection of short stories about lives lived inside and outside of virtual reality. The advent of simulated realities raises questions of philosophy and technology that drive at the core of our nature as humans-and in the tradition of classic sci-fi, the stories in this collection wrestle with these questions and with the shape of things to come. You'll meet a child protective services agent tasked with rescuing children being raised by Neo-Nazis in an illegal simulation of their own darkest fantasies. You'll meet a man who discovers the cheat code to our reality-and watch as it all goes horribly wrong. You'll go on a futuristic Rumspringa with an Amish woman who lives it up in virtual reality for a few years before deciding whether to go home to the last unplugged community on Earth.

A brilliant take on reality...
Revisado: 07-05-19
An amazing collection of what our reality could become once we start to dream with the help of technology. A deep naked and honest dive into the human pysche, the author is not affraid to uncover our weirdest fantasies and show that in the end they don't matter, albeit they might be all there is.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

The 21 "lessons" trigger a reflexion.
It is about the importance of building a consciousness for our species.
About finding the homeostasis between our mind as individuals and the collective mind of communities of different scales.
I loved the final words about digging the tunnel of mind research from both sides.

Historia
The science of emotion is in the midst of a revolution on par with the discovery of relativity in physics and natural selection in biology. Leading the charge is psychologist and neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett, whose research overturns the long-standing belief that emotions are automatic, universal, and hardwired in different brain regions. Instead, Barrett shows, we construct each instance of emotion through a unique interplay of brain, body, and culture.

A remarquably accessible view on the mind.
Revisado: 09-03-18
The book gives a deep insight on the nature of the mind and question reality while keeping a very casual tone. By using analogies and example from day to day situations, the author allow even non experts to take a step into their mind.
The verbal narration is also excellent and support the cunning style of the writing.
I believe this book, and the ideas it vehiculate should be exposed as much as possible. It points to an essential paradigm shift in our understanding of the brain, our emotions and free will. It also links this understanding to our society, by exposing the bidirectional relationship between culture and biological neural systems.
A must read for all who want to question what we are.
