Historia
The Light Eaters is a deep immersion into the drama of green life and the complexity of this wild and awe-inspiring world that challenges our very understanding of agency, consciousness, and intelligence. In looking closely, we see that plants, rather than imitate human intelligence, have perhaps formed a parallel system.

Mind-blowing

i will never think of plants as inanimate objects again. They are creatures with real agency in the world. They make decisions. Many species can count and remember events in the past. They comunicate with each other and with insects. I can't recommend this audio book highly enough.

Historia
Drawing on previously unpublished eyewitness accounts, prizewinning historian Donald L. Miller has written what critics are calling one of the most powerful accounts of warfare ever published. Here are the horror and heroism of World War II in the words of the men who fought it, the journalists who covered it, and the civilians who were caught in its fury. Miller gives us an up-close, deeply personal view of a war that was more savagely fought - and whose outcome was in greater doubt - than one might imagine. This is the war that Americans on the home front would have read about had they had access to previously censored testimony.

Comprehensive
Revisado: 02-07-24
I've read and listened to many books about WWII, and no other book has struck such a perfect balance between the military and human stories of the war. I normally turn off Audible when I get home from work and turn on Pandora to listen to music. While listening to this book I kept my earbuds in and listened for hours after work. I can never understand what the men, women, and children of that generation went through, but I think I'm closer to an understanding because of this book.

Historia
On takeoff from Denver during a winter blizzard, an airliner piloted by veteran Captain Marty Mitchell overruns a commuter plane from behind. Bizarrely, the fuselage of the smaller aircraft is tenuously wedged onto the wing of his Boeing 757, leading Mitchell to an impossible life-or-death choice. Mitchell’s decision will land the former military pilot in the crosshairs of a viciously ambitious district attorney determined to send him to prison for doing his job.

It's Just Too Good
Revisado: 08-21-23
(Spoilers) A previous reviewer lamented that this novel had "so much potential." i agree. I wish I could dream up a world 5,000 years from now with as much potential. This is Mr. Stephenson flaunting his genius, I think. He's toying with us. The hook is mind-blowing hard science fiction, but I can't escape my feeling that this is satire. Will we be racists 5,000 years from now?

Historia
Aside from FDR, no American did more to shape World War II than Admiral William D. Leahy - not Douglas MacArthur, not Dwight Eisenhower, and not even the legendary George Marshall. No man, including Harry Hopkins, was closer to Roosevelt, nor had earned his blind faith, like Leahy. Through the course of the war, constantly at the president's side and advising him on daily decisions, Leahy became the second most powerful man in the world.

A must for students of WWII/early Cold War history
Revisado: 06-02-23
It's almost embarrassing that I didn't know whom William Leahy was. Any understanding of American involvement in WWII is incomplete without understanding Admiral Leahy's role. Any biography of FDR or Truman would be incomplete without understanding his role in their administrations. Solid gold.

Historia
Anthropology is the organized study of what makes humans human. It takes an objective step back to ask questions like: Given our common characteristics, why aren't all of us exactly the same? And how can knowing the reasons behind our differences - as well as our similarities - teach us useful lessons for the future? The updated edition of Anthropology for Dummies gives you a panoramic view of the fascinating fieldwork and theory that seeks to answer these questions - and helps you view the human world through impartial, anthropological eyes.

This book is about 10-15 behind the science. The author is unaware that Genetic research has proven that all non Sub-Saharan Africans have small traces of Neanderthal DNA. We also know now that some people have DNA from other archaic humans, so yes, we interbred with them.

Worlds in Collision - written in a brilliant, easily understandable, and entertaining style and full to the brim with precise information-can be considered one of the most important and most challenging books in the history of science. Not without reason was this book found open on Einstein's desk after his death. For all those who have ever wondered about the evolution of the earth, the history of mankind, traditions, religions, mythology or just the world as it is today, Worlds in Collision is an absolute must-listen!

I wasted a credit on this silly book. It was my fault for crediting Audible reviews. No expert in any associated field has any time for this guy. As I was reading I remembered that Carl Sagan debunked him 50 years ago. The author's assertions are fascinating and exciting, but they're just not true.
