Outstandingly brave women whose strength inspires hope! I still fear to tell my story but I know the day is closer because these incredible women are speaking out! Thank you to them and all who work to make this remarkable podcast. From the bottom of my lonely, hurting, now hopeful heart. Thank you all.

Historia
On January 28, 1742, a ramshackle vessel of patched-together wood and cloth washed up on the coast of Brazil. Inside were thirty emaciated men, barely alive, and they had an extraordinary tale to tell. They were survivors of His Majesty’s Ship the Wager, a British vessel that had left England in 1740 on a secret mission during an imperial war with Spain. While the Wager had been chasing a Spanish treasure-filled galleon known as “the prize of all the oceans,” it had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia.

Totally engaging book

Narrator’s enthusiasm is unusual. I adapted the tone a bit by slowing the speed a couple notches. This is worth it. I appreciated this book and looked forward to getting back to it as soon as I could.

Historia
Roger Stringer grew up in rural Mississippi, hunting and eating everything from deer to rabbits. When he had two sons, Zac and Justin, he gave them guns and took them to the woods as well. Then one day when the boys were home alone, he got a call from Zac that Justin had been shot. What follows is an intimate and gripping memoir about the shooting’s aftermath. The story moves between the perspectives of Roger and Zac as they take us through their journey of betrayal, redemption, and ultimately confrontation with a company that had kept its corruption a secret for decades.

Such raw honesty
Revisado: 03-14-24
This story brings hope and strength to every listener. I’m incredibly grateful to the Stringers for their fortitude, their endurance and the willingness to share without sparing themselves anything! How they each bowed up for pain to fight and face what that meant. God is with them. Us all. I am passing the word to people I know who own a safe of guns to check their inventory. The great ‘concern’ for gun safety and control is exposed by the blatant disregard for life excused for profit.

Thank you for answering questions an American like me doesn’t know enough to dream to ask! I’ve only listened to a few episodes so far, mostly on customs, etc., but what a great addition to trying to learn something of the language. (I especially loved a ‘Bonjour’ part about French custom and episode #30 with the American guest Todd Newman! Can’t wait to listen to them all!

For decades, European reporters and activists have tried to penetrate the secretive networks responsible for the crimes, typically with little success. Until now. In The Lost, veteran journalists Matteo Fagotto and Matilde Gattoni investigate the story of a woman named Ana Belén Pintado, a middle-aged woman from a small village in Central Spain.

Shocking story of a brave woman. Especially shocking, the numbers revealed!
The resiliency of the child and the parental bond is known so deeply by those who have been separated for whatever reason. Not surprisingly, the Catholic Church formed the protection needed to perpetuate these criminal acts for so long and block any accountability.

At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.
