Great Book and Narrator!
Revisado: 10-30-24
I have enjoyed the whole series and the only thing I didn't give five stars to is the story but it still got a four. I don't know if the author is planning on addressing this in the next book, but the character development for brixxagby is not great. He's almost exactly the same character in the beginning as in the end. I understand developing Arthur as he is the main character but I think it would be prudent to invest more in brixx. Also I think it would be nice to know more about the retinue but that's not as vital. However with that being said; this is still an amazing book I will be recommending to my friends. It's very MTG like and I enjoy the emphasis the author has on the heart deck. The characters are very interesting and I am enjoying the next level plot development. I am interested in seeing where this series will go and what else we will learn. Also longer books with more details are a huge favorite of mine so if the author ever reads this...

I loved this book! The author and narrator both did an amazing job. I think the author does a great job at making this book one that anyone can pick up and still enjoy even if you haven't read all the past books (which if you haven't you should definitely do!). This story is wonderful for it's suspense and just content in general. Each floor is very well thought out and the author does a great job of moving the characters through each floor in a speed that feels natural and yet packed with new and interesting content. Also the author does a great job making everything just feel more realistic and almost possible to the extent that a world of skills could. I look forward to the next book and the battles to come!!

another five in the bag
Revisado: 08-30-23
I love this book series and have enjoyed listening to yet another success! The narrator is phenomenal and I could listen to this book simply because of him but the author is just as good and so they combined for an epic audio performance. The characters are diverse in thought and character. The author has also gone through great lengths to make this world feel real. He incorporates huge amounts of world building but has done it in a subtle way that makes it seem natural and not like he is just segwaying into a bunch of info. I love the main character Jake because he's funny and yet focused. He's very flawed but I think this shows his humanity even more. I think the author has done a great job of making the characters relatable and easy to connect with too.

I have always enjoyed this series and this is just the next best story arc in the series. I really enjoy how this book feels like it's almost a separate part of the series while also being completely in line and going along with it.

It is alright, but very jumbled.
Revisado: 02-07-23
I really feel like the author could have been more directional when writing this book series. Instead of feeling as though I was going along on an adventure it felt as though I was being flung around. I would go into one persons life only to be flung into someone else's life then back to one of the previous people. I had so many characters back stories that it was just a jumbled mess. Honestly I feel as tho we could have gotten more out of this by having the characters stories separated more. I think if we had left out the woman in the beginning who is not Livia, and just gone with the people around Livia it would have made the book way more cohesive. The author could have easily just put that character in the next book, her story and all, and let us wonder who she is in the first by including her in the end like they did. I also think the author could have used that extra time to help us better understand who all the other archons and there followers where. This book to me just feels really incomplete. Also I don't enjoy the random sex scenes just shoved in wherever they could go. This book could definitely do without it. It's either go full game of thrones or don't.

good story very similar to the first book
Revisado: 05-06-22
This book is a wonderful continuation of the first. the blood and gore almost rival that of the first. I was not a fan of all the sexual scenes though. The story arch is not bad however the end feels a bit rushed like the deadline was coming and the author was just like and the end.
The guy who voiced this book has an amazing talent with voices and keeping the Listener attentive. Would most certainly listen to another book read by him.
