Oh my gosh. This was such a cute story. Sam is just such a sweet man. I loved it. He went out of his way to do something so amazing. And he did it without expecting anything in return. Love it.

This narrator is awful. She kept having pauses where they did not belong. She must have thought that is how you put emphasis on something bug instead it just made it sound like she was reading fragments of sentences.
The story was good despite the narrator. Wish I had read it on kindle instead. She was that awful.

I am not sure what to say about this story. It was weird. I am open to any paranormal romance, but this was not a romance. Not erotica either. No idea what to call this. Had a nice twist in the end. But the main character was strange.

A very quick story with a very poor recording

The recording was painful to listen to. The narrator read it in a room with almost an echo. He also seemed to slur some words and is not very precise. So between the echo and the slurring, I had no idea what he said.
He also seemed very monotone. Add a bit of inflection during the sensual scene man, make it a big believable. Oh well! I got this as a freebie.

This book had a lot of different woven together story lines. And many of them got barely a resolution. The one main theme here was a complete full house of toxic masculinity. Every one of the men, except for poor Buffalo Bill (who got left unresolved and appeared to be a doormat for his Buffalo Gal’s disappearing act), every one of them put their women down, blamed all their problems on them, accused them of cheating, and when all else fails screamed that the women were outsiders. Even Brandon who had been married to his wife Joanie for 10 years still accused her of not knowing anything about harsh farm life. They all ran their women off continuously and all in the name of their pride. There was no support given to the women and they didn’t bend in their freaking pride until the women were leaving. And those women loved them and took them back the moment those men bent their pride for a hot minute to appear human. Ugh! If my husband talked to me that way, I would be wondering where respect went and that would be the end. No way would I deal with that. Heck, Brandon spent $200K on a new combine and then freaked out on his wife over $1500 spent on her washer and dryer. What in the world? And Gage? All he did was talk down to Lindsey. She was going to leave so he would run her off, she was an outsider. I was surprised that town was not as inbred as all get out because no one from outside was good enough. How Lindsey fell in love with Gage, I have no idea. His only redeeming quality was his hotness.

Not sure what to think

I got a copy of this book set in exchange for my honest review.
The three books are stand alone, but are all based in Rutherford Hospital and follow three friends Sasha, Becca, and Jules as they find love. Sasha with Cal, Becca with Vincent, and Jules with Noah.
Sasha and Cal’s book was the best one. Her friends Becca and Jules were there for her and the story progressed well. Sasha fell into instalove with a guy she saw briefly 10 years ago and kept pining for ever after. Cal is a new doctor and she recognizes him as “the guy”. The hospital gossip mill is a bit ridiculous and some of the behavior of other people is very high school. Sasha ends up being accused of something she did not do and shockingly, Cal drops her like a hot potato. He comes around eventually, but I am not sure I would be as quick to forgive as Sasha was. This was a solid 4 star book. Maybe 4.5 stars.
The next book is Becca and Vincent. Becca is a bit extra. And that is her personality. Vincent is constantly hot and cold like he has a split personality. Turns out he has some reasons for that, but I am not sure that the zero communication approach worked for me. The book cut out abruptly and it turned out that the audio version is missing the last chapter entirely. I had to download the kindle version to get the ending. I felt like I was left to fall off a cliff otherwise. I emailed the publisher, so I think it will be fixed quickly. This was also a 4 star book.
The last book is what did me in. Jules, who was always so sweet, level headed, and rational, is a completely irrational creature in this book. She is full of rage, preconceived notions and nasty word spewing. Honestly, I have no idea what Noah saw in her except she was great in bed and they had awesome chemistry there. But he moved mountains and proved himself over and over and over again only to have her twist it all around in her head. She jumped to completely unsupported conclusions that left me wondering how she got there. And how she got where she was in life with her giant chip on her shoulder. There was nothing likable or redeeming about her. When Noah confessed that he loved her, I could only think that some guys may just like being treated as lower than dirt. And of course she threw it in his face. If I did not promise to write a review, I would have DNF’ed this book. As it was, she finally came around with about 1.5 left in the whole thing (and that included all the epilogues). That third book was a 2 star for me because Noah was a great guy and he carried it as much as he could.

I read to escape. I read romance novels because they have happy endings. The ending did not jive with the rest of the story. This was ambiguous. Charlie could have asked to work remote from the town. Ugh!

What in the world. I know I did not listen to the prior installments. No clue how I ended up with this one actually. But McKayla sounds like a weirdo, shows up at Paul’s workplace 30 minutes early and flips out that he forgot their date. Paul sounds a bit self important and pompous. There is no chemistry between them, so I have no idea how she decided he was her mate. She barely registered on his meter.
She was no one to him until she kissed him and even then he just wanted to have sex with her, not love her forever.
But the thing that made me turn the whole thing off was the lovemaking scene. He kept leaving copious amounts of saliva/drool wherever he kissed her and then when he went for her pussy, she was soaked down to her knees. And I imagined him kissing her and drooling all into her mouth and that was it. I turned this crap right off and that was it.
I have no idea how this book ended. It is not often I DNF books. But this one set off my gag reflex and that is never good when you are listening to a lovemaking scene.

Trista and Torven’s story

Revisado: 07-19-20

Trista has always been attracted to bad boys. They are her type but they always end up bad for her. Her last relationship ended so badly she was happy to become a tribute bride. But her matched warrior is still on a mission.
Torven got matched to a bride and is coming back from a mission. He is framed for a crime he did not commit and is arrested. So he does not have an opportunity to clean up. He has only seen Trista in a photo but he knows she is his. He needs to get away and so when he sees her in a hallway, he kidnaps her in order to escape. And Trista is convinced he is yet another bad boy, as her luck would have it.
They go through quite a few trials and fall in love, but not without their misunderstanding and miscommunication. Trista’s life ends up being in danger and Torven pulls out all the stops to save her.
It is another great installment to the Drexian Tribute bride series and I can’t wait for Dock’s story.
My only complaint is the narrator. She is the same throughout the books, so I think I am getting used to her. But she makes every female character sound stupid and breathy and every male character sounds old when they are speaking. She sounds fine when she is narrating the rest. I just do not enjoy her approach.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is the third book in the series, but the first one I have read. It is a stand-alone, but there were some prior characters and references that would have been cool to know ahead of time. I really enjoyed the story. Zane is such an honorable and smart hero. I had a bit of an issue with the heroine, but she eventually pulled her head out of her rear end. And I guess it furthered the story. I did feel that Zane let it go a bit too easily.
My biggest issue with the book was the voice the narrator used for the heroine. It is clear the narrator can speak normally, but she used the most breathy and airheaded voice for the heroine and it bugged me every time she spoke. She is supposed to be a hustler, so it did not seem applicable.
Overall a great story and I look forward to reading the other stories in the series. I received an ARC copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion.
