Historia
As cultural hostility toward Christianity intensifies, many Christians have grown more reluctant to advocate for biblical values in the public square. But our perseverance for the common good—a good defined by God alone—is more important than ever in a culture that embraces darkness. When Culture Hates You is a call for Christians to unashamedly pursue righteousness in society out of our love for others.

Important read for the times we are living in
Revisado: 03-21-25
I have felt alone with just God for quite a while. I work with Christians in the Christian communities and I can say without one doubt. Many people think they are Christians but have zero faith in Jesus. They want to dip their toes in both arenas. Worldly and Heaven.
I don’t want to judge and definitely know my shortcomings so I try to stay as humble as I can when accepting people and just loving them. Judge lest not be judged Matt 7:2. And love many people who are being convinced they are not born in the right bodies. Or that they can be a they instead of an individual…. This book addresses those types of concerns.
It’s easy to want to just be the fluffy loving side of Christianity but when you start standing up for unborn babies and that all children are born in the correct bodies. Well you end up attacked by even the Christian communities.
It addresses all elements. Why we have gone so far to “if you don’t agree you must hate” road is daunting. And she really nails the crux of the problem.
However when I think about the pain and torture Jesus went through so that not one sheep be led astray I just start crying! How can so many people hate our creator who loves us unwaiving! Life isn’t easy but it isn’t our lord and saviors fault. All the glory to God!

For 56 years, the Black Dahlia murder case remained one of the most notorious and high-profile unsolved crimes of the 20th century. Now, Steve Hodel, a 24-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, believes he has finally solved the case. On January 15, 1947, 22-year-old Elizabeth Short - "The Black Dahlia" - was found dead in a vacant lot in Los Angeles, her body horribly mutilated, bisected at the waist, and posed in a bizarre manner.

Snooze fest
Revisado: 05-29-24
For such a rich story told by many this one was too much about the writer and not about the crime. It could have been half as long in my opinion. I lost interest at about a quarter the way through.

It’s hard to read but so poignantly done. I’m a life long Democrat who had a mom as a judge of election.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

Just not for me
Revisado: 12-30-23
I had high hopes. Neil Gaiman sounded the same as he does for the Good Omens. The story was too campy. The demon was the most interesting character and I detested the whiny other characters.

Reminded me that you are never too old!
Revisado: 12-28-23
Love the Bible references which make me feel more connected to the opinions and insights. The guy is my age which was nice. He said he’s got probably another 40 years and why not reinvent yourself. He also added so many examples of people making a huge difference from the start! I believe that is what drives us all. What is our legacy!

Had a lot of potential
Revisado: 11-03-22
Could have been great but just ended up being average. The monsters were underdeveloped as well as the story plot. It felt like it was going to be great from the start and quickly just turned into an average read.

Historia
Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis. In the small town of Castle Rock, the setting of many of King’s most iconic stories, Scott is engaged in a low-grade - but escalating - battle with the lesbians next door whose dog regularly drops his business on Scott’s lawn. One of the women is friendly; the other, cold as ice.

Uplifting story. Lol
Revisado: 10-02-22
Okay okay. That was meant as a joke! My favorite part of Stephen Kings writing is how he thinks people think. Elevation to me as a plus size human sounds fantastic to lose weight without even trying. But that is a raw deal! I wish he wouldn’t bring politics into his writing because he doesn’t need to! He’s genius with how he tells a tale! I always love when he reads his own work!
The dog story was just a feel good story. During Covid my cat got out and never came back. My friends joked that she had too much time with me. But deep down I was terribly depressed over it. I still love and miss her! So I rushed out and got a replacement cat. And it just so happens her name is Lucifer. Luci for short! Now I named her that because she’s a demon cat part of the time and an Angel cat the rest of the time. This story wasn’t as strong a story as the first one but still a solid pet story!
Now if you want to read a story about a dog that is just mind blowing from a dogs perspective read Gerald’s game. Part way thru there is this part where an abandoned dog is involved and from the dogs perspective and it’s the best part of the book to me.
Happy listening and if you don’t know it they are turning this book into a movie.
