Historia
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Boring.
Revisado: 04-17-25
Not much is going on, dragons are only in a small percentage of the story. Add in the virtue signaling to pad out the run and this book isn't worth the 6 hours of my time, even if it is "free."

Small step back.
Revisado: 03-14-25
Love the series as a whole and I will be buying the next one.
This book feels rushed. The second half of the book reads more like DCC and not Noobtown. The humor and hijinks are seriously lacking in this book. The final chapter has a cliffhanger that is just bad and unnecessarily evil. It reads like J and J are being punished for pure shock value. I don't like the new tone of this book. I like Noobtown because it is silly, funny, light and makes me belly laugh at the antics of the MC and crew. I don't read Noobtown to be DCC light. I hope the author goes back to the spirit of the series that I like so much.

Or will Earth become another mining world stripped of all resources and left a barren husk floating in the cosmos?

Slow.
Revisado: 03-14-25
This book drags. The author goes on and on describing every detail of each encounter, while that is nice there is a point where the detail just drags the story to a crawl. Get on with it.
The narrator is sold and does the best he can with what is there,

Much of the same from the previous books. Not good not bad, just bland and predictable. The only improvement is the narrator using his "Badgerlore" voice for the dwarf tank.

Jack Atlas, self-proclaimed 'World's Best Assassin', had a simple plan: retire in style and marry the girl of his dreams. Then he gets placed in The Tower—a divine deathtrap where gods pit their creations against each other for the ultimate prize: eternal paradise for you and your friends. The catch? If you lose, well, let's just say your chances of finding a decent bar in oblivion are slim.

Stupid is as stupid does.
Revisado: 02-21-25
This series has a lot going for it, world building, character development (not Jack), interesting combat. It has a lot of potential and a lot of it is wasted. Three books in and the most common way the author moves the story along is Jack being stupid. Not just normal stupid but galaxy level stupid. Jack doesn't learn from his mistakes. The plot contrivances are Jack being stupid and Jack being stupid again. The author can't think of a way to keep the story pace other than Jack being stupid. It was funny the first 238 times but the 239th time, it is just stupid. I hope the story gets better.

Its okish.
Revisado: 02-21-25
Nothing creative, nothing new, mostly just the standard troupes. If you have nothing else to listen to, this isn't a waste of time. My biggest complaint about this series, so far, is the MC has the emotional maturity of an 8 year old. Maybe the next book will get better?

The narrator does not get better.
Revisado: 03-16-24
Love the story, for the most part however, the narrator decided to keep the most annoying voice he can possible make for one of the main side characters, Luna. I want to skip all the dialog with Luna but can't because she is vital to the story. Imagine a whining, high pitched voice that enunciates the last syllable in the last word of every sentence. Luna sounds like a valley girl high on meth.

Great series, terrible narrator.
Revisado: 03-08-24
Love the series and I am a parteon supporter of C. Mantis. It is a real shame the narrator for this awesome series is just not that good. His standard "reading" voice is ok but when he tries to do voices of the various characters he pitches his voice up an octave or two and basically yells. There is very little depth or difference between the main characters voices. Matt sounds like he is whining and Liz sounds little difference. When is voices characters with a little bass they are fine but he rarely does that.
There is a reason the first 3.5 books are together and on sale.

Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Major backstep for the series.
Revisado: 11-02-23
The first 15 minutes is about clothes shopping. After waiting for 2+ years, the book open with clothes shopping.
The next hour and 45 minutes is teen romance drama.
The story doesn't move until the half way point in the book. 15 hours of drama and fluff before the book gets going.
The Viv/Grant situation was handled the way so many said it would be, it wasn't. It is an unnecessary and contrived source of drama that dilutes the story and is pure fluff to pad the run time. Character assassination at its finniest.
The narrator changed the accent of several of the characters, for some reason he changed the pronunciation of phalanx to phalongx. It is annoying and takes me out of the story every time he says phalongx.
The first "battle" is the worst of the series. It goes on for for to long and is the " the anime characters stand around thinking" cliche.
The battles in this book pail in comparison to the previous book.
A few of the questions, from the previous book, are answered but many many more are not.
Overall this book was not worth the wait and I hope it gets back on course if the author publishes book 3.
